About the Match
UAE did well to qualify for the main tournament but they are yet to win a match here; with zero points, they stand last on the points table and will take on Pakistan, who are also yet to open their points kitty and are in the 5th position, on 29th February at Dhaka. Pakistan lost heavily against India in their match on Saturday and will be eager to bounce back with a strong win here; UAE on the other hand will go into this match confidently with their talented resources, who can surely put up a stiff challenge to the opponents on Monday.
It was a humiliating defeat for them against India in their first match and will be eager to wipe away the memories with a better performance against UAE on Monday; although the bowlers were terrific on the field against the men in blue, the batsmen put up a dismal performance getting all-out for just 83 runs batting first. Sarfraz Ahmed was the lone fighter but even his 25 off 24 wasn’t enough to get past the 100-mark.
Mohammad Amir is on fire and he exhibited his superb pace attack by claiming 3-18 and toppling the Indian top-order; along with Mohammad Sami, who took 2 scalps, and Mohammad Irfan who did his best to stifle the opposition on Saturday, Pakistan did very well to cause a scare for India but lost the match by 5 wickets in the end.
The batsmen need to pull up their socks and focus on playing some sensible cricket to build partnerships and keep the scoreboard ticking; Sharjeel Khan, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Hafeez are strong players and must come out all guns blazing here. The bowling attack is good with a strong pace attack and they will definitely bring all their firepower in the upcoming match.
United Arab Emirates
They lost their matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, both while chasing low targets; while the bowlers were successful in restricting the opponents to lowly totals, the batsmen were not up to the mark and failed terribly.
Against Sri Lanka, Amjad Javed picked up 3-25 while Mohammad Naveed, Mohammad Shahzad and Rohan Mustafa took 5 wickets between them to restrict the opposition to 129 runs. The chase started poorly with the entire top-order getting dismissed for only 16 runs on board; Swapnil Patil fought hard as he tried to build the innings with his 37 off 36 but with hardly any support from others, UAE lost the match by 14 runs.
In the match against Bangladesh, Naveed and Javed picked up two wickets each while Shahzad and Rohan Mustafa picked up a wicket each to restrict the hosts to 133; but yet again the batsmen fell like a pack of cards, getting all-out for only 82 runs by the 18th over. They need to be more confident with the bat and try to keep the runs coming; they have a tough bowling attack to face against Pakistan and unless they gear up for the challenge, this contest could result in heartburn for them.
Pakistan will be eager to make amends with a win and we will definitely see a power-packed performance by them on Monday; UAE has good resources at hand and will try to fight hard but we feel that Pakistan is better placed to win the match and garner two points here
