It is a historic occasion that the first-ever women’s international series in Pakistan is being played. The Pakistan women are hosting the Bangladesh women for a white ball tour starting with three T20 internationals and then two ODI’s.
The first T20 was a closely fought match that Pakistan ended up winning by 14 runs. It now has a chance to wrap up the series with a win in this match. The Bangladeshi women will know that they were close to achieving a victory in the first match and that a few improvements could help them turn the corner this time around.
Pakistan women vs Bangladesh women 2nd T20 international is going to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on the 28th of October 2019.
Pakistan won the toss in the first match and then opted to bat first but its performance was not up to the mark. Some early wickets meant that the Pakistani women were struggling to get any sort of momentum in its inning and a couple of circumspect performances were needed to get the batting back on track.
Bismah Maroof and Omaima Sohail starred with the bat as they ensured the home side will get a competitive total for sure.
Looking ahead at the second match, Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof are the obvious two players that are going to be looking to make an impact in this match. Sidra Ameen, ALiya Raiz, and Iram Javed are decent batters but the senior two players are more than half the batting.
Occasions of playing in front of home crowds are few for Pakistani cricket and even fewer for Pakistani women, so we are sure that the players will be fully motivated to put their best foot forward.
The Pakistani batting is not the strongest and we don’t think it can really afford to try and get too aggressive in this match either.
Anam Amin, Aliya Riaz, and Sadia Iqbal bowled very well to help Pakistan defend a small total. In fact, every single bowler did well and did not allow the Bangladeshi batters to get on top at any stage.
There are six players in the playing eleven that bowl regularly so there should be no shortage of players to call upon for the Pakistani skipper.
Sidra Ameen, Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof, Omaima Sohail, Aliya Riaz, Iram Javed, Sana Mir, Diana Baig, Sidra Nawaz, Sadia Iqbal, Anam Amin.
Jahanara Alam picked up four wickets in her four overs and helped Bangladesh restrict Pakistan to a small total. We are sure that the Bangladeshi women would have been thinking of a victory at the halfway stage but their batting just crumbled in the chase.
Rumana Ahmed was the only batter that kept the fight alive with a confident 50 off just 30 deliveries. The Bangladeshi batting is quite weak and it will take something very special for the side to outscore the Pakistani women.
Consistency has not been the forte of the Bangladeshi women and a couple of early wickets will send jitters down the entire side.
Ayasha Rahman, Shamima Sultana, and Rumana Ahmed are the three best batters in the side and they have to be the ones to do the bulk of the scoring.
One thing that is in favor of Bangladesh is the fact that the conditions are very similar in Pakistan as compared to what they play at home. Unfortunately, they just don’t have the resources available to them or the international exposure to allow them to develop the same kind of professionalism that some of the other teams have.
Shamima Sultana, Ayasha Rahman, Sanjida Islam, Nigar Sultana, Rumana Ahmed, Fargana Hoque, Jahanara Alam, Salma Khatun, Lata Mondal, Khadija Tul Kubra, Panna Ghosh.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first

The weather in Lahore is expected to be sunny and clear on match day. We should have absolutely no weather related interruptions during this match. The pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium has been slow but not too bad for batting.
We think it was a lack of application from the players that resulted in two low scores.
We think there is not too much difference between the two sides but the advantage of playing in home conditions and having more experience in the side gives the edge to the Pakistani women.
