Pakistan women and England women are playing their series in Malaysia which includes three ODI’s followed by three T20 internationals. The first ODI was won convincingly by a very strong England side and Pakistan will have to come up with something really special if it wants to level the series in this second ODI.
England will be keen to wrap up the series and then push for a 3-0 scoreline. This ODI series between Pakistan women and England women is a part of the ICC Championship and counts towards qualification for the World Cup so there is plenty to play for.
Pakistan Women vs England Women 2nd ODI is going to be played at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur on the 12th of December 2019.
There is a reason why Pakistan women are ranked 7th in the ICC rankings and that became very clear in their match against England. A poor bowling performance was followed by a sub-par batting performance and at no point in time did it appear that the Pakistani women are in a stronger position.
Pakistan could not pick up the first English wicket till 188 runs were on the board and we actually thought they were lucky to be chasing 285 in the end. A few more big hits and Pakistan could have been staring at a target of over 300 quite easily.
Diana Baig, Nida Dar, and Aliya Riaz were all wicketless in the previous match while Nashra Sandhu, Rameem Shamim, and Bismah Maroof managed to pick some wickets. The wicket in Malaysia was quite flat and not something that suited the Pakistani bowlers who need more assistance from the surface to be effective.
The Pakistani batting has depended on Bismah Maroof and Javeria Khan for a very long time now. Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar, and Aliya Riaz have emerged as promising batters in the lower-order but overall the Pakistani batting remains quite brittle.
The pressure of chasing a big total may have played its part and perhaps we can see something better if they get a chance to bat first. We are not brave enough to back this Pakistani batting lineup, though.
Nahida Khan, Sidra Ameen, Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof, Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Sidra Nawaz, Ramin Shamim, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu.
Most of the England women playing this match have been participating in a very competitive WBBL till recently and were in prime form. Tammy Beaumont and Danielle Wyatt scored assured centuries and only got out while trying to raise the run-rate.
With Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver, Amy Ellen Jones, and Fran Wilson to follow, the England batting leaps and bounds ahead of Pakistan’s. It is also important to know that the English middle order is made up of women that were batting in the top-order for various WBBL teams and scoring runs against teams that are probably better than Pakistan’s international team.
If England does lose a few early wickets, there will be no need to panic.
Kate Cross picked up four wickets in the previous match while Katherine Brunt and Sarah Glenn picked up two each. It was a confident bowling performance from the England side that had the advantage of defending a big total.
England could be tested a bit more while bowling first because the Pakistani women can pace their batting better but England should still have enough in the tank to get the better of Pakistan.
Tammy Beaumont, Danielle Wyatt, Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver, Amy Ellen Jones, Fran Wilson, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, Anya Shrubsole.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first

It has been raining in Kuala Lumpur in the evenings but the forecast for the morning remains quite good. The match is scheduled to begin 9:30 AM local time so we should hopefully be able to get in a result before the heavens open up.
The pitch was excellent to bat on and the outfield was small enough to clear easily. We can expect another high-scoring match if England bats first because the conditions are not going to change too much.
England is the second-ranked ODI team in Women’s cricket while Pakistan is the seventh. There is no aspect of the game where Pakistan has an advantage over England and so we are not going to recommend a win for Pakistan praying for miracles.
