ECN Czech Super Series has started on a strong note and the first two weeks have seen some success. Despite the absence of familiar stars, the tournament is being followed by cricket fans globally. Bohemian CC emerged as winners in the Group 1 after winning a gripping final against Prague CC Kings. Fans will be looking forward to the second week with Group 2 teams taking on each other. Prague CC Knights, Vinohrady Rossos, Prague Spartans Vanguards, and Vinohardy Biancos will be battling it out to make it to the finals weekend.
The Group 2 matches will begin with Prague CC Knights taking on Vinohrady Biancos taking on each other on Saturady, June 20th at Velvary Cricket Stadium. Both the sides are relatively new to the Czech domestic circuit, but they both are rich in talented cricket. Both sides are expected to come hard at each other in the opening encounter of Group B and a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards.
Prague CC Knights are third team of the Prague Cricket Club and have done relatively well in the short time they have been around. They finished third in the Pro40 tournament played last year and fourth in Division Two T20 Czech League.
Led by Sujith Gopalakrishnan, the Knights may be a little light on experience, but they do not have any dearth of experience. Gopalakrishnan has experience of 82 games under his belt and is one of the most experienced players in Prague Cricket Club. In 82 innings that he has played, he has 555 runs to his name with high score of 38, albeit with a rather poor average.
Alongside their skipper, the onus will be on the likes of Laxminarayan Selvan and Naveen Padmaraju to deal the damage with the bat. Padmaraju and Karthick Gopalakrishnan are their prime all-rounders who lend exceptional balance to their side. The Knigths appear to be a little weak as far as bowling department is concerned. They are a little too over-reliant on Eswarmurthi Gopalakrishnan to keep things quiet as well as pick wickets and that could be a cause of concern if things do not go according to the plan.
All in all, the Knights are a decent side and can beat any side on their day, but lack of experience as well as firepower in the bowling department could come back to haunt them in crunch situations.
Sujith Gopalakrishnan, Sone Joseph Neerolipadan, Naveen Padmaraju, Vijay Karthikeyan, Karthick Gopalakrishnan, Jinnu Panilet Panipichai, Kasi Vishwanathan Balakrishnan, Laxminarayanan Selvan, Pavan Kumar Sunkara, Joseph Johnson, Charles Croucher.
Vinohardy Biancos are one of the lesser-known teams in the Czech Domestic cicruit, but have the services of few of the most prolific players. Wicket-keeper batsman Toby Haslam, Vojtech Hasa, and Alex Sirisena form the core of their batting lineup and a lot will depend on them for Biancos to do well.
The Biancos have a solid batting unit that goes deep, thanks to the availability of hard-hitting all-rounders. John Corness, Michael Londosborough and Frederick Heydenrich are three powerful strikers of the ball and are capable to change the course of the match in a matter of minutes, be it with the bat or with the ball.
Vinohrady Biancos have a pretty settled unit with experience available in both departments of the game. While they have specialist bowlers available in Benjamin Soucek and Trinity Moyo, a lot will depend on how their all-rounders deliver with the ball. Overall, the Biancos look a well-settled unit and could be a tough team to handle for Prague Cricket Club Knights in the opening Group B encounter.
Michael Londesborough, Lakshay Sharma, Karel Ziegler, Siddharth Sharma, Nirmal Kumar, Vojtech Hasa, Toby Haslam, Edward Entwistle, Alex Sirisena, Kapil Kumar, Frederick Heydenrych.
Overcast conditions and moisture on the surface will mean assistance for quick bowlers in the earlier part of the match. This will certainly tempt the captain winning the toss to bowl first and we believe the same as well. Expect the captain winning the toss to field first.

The rain has been in the air in the past few days and it hampered the play last weekend as well. With conditions expected to be overcast, there are high chances of rain on Saturday. This is a morning game and with overhead conditions likely to be overcast, the overall conditions are likely to suit the bowlers. The surface, otherwise, seems to be excellent to bat on. The team batting first will do well to score a total of anything over 80-85.

The two teams are matched pretty evenly as far as experience is concerned. Having said that, the availability of powerful and reliable all-rounders in the middle add balance to Biancos' squad. In addition to that, the Knights appear to be a little light on firepower in bowling department. Considering those factors as well as the ones we mentioned above, Vinohrady Biancos are more likely to win the upcoming contest.
