PER vs ADS Match Prediction - Dec 28, 2020

We are already some way into the Big Bash League, but the top of the points table is as competitive as it was at the beginning of the competition. The difference between the team at the top of the points table and the fifth team is of just three points. This is going to get more exciting as we move further into the tournament.

Up next in the competition are Adelaide Strikers set to meet Perth Scorchers. While there's a wide gap between where the two teams are on the ladder, the two teams are mighty close as far as firepower is concerned. The match is to be played on 28th December at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.

PER vs ADS Team Previews

Perth Scorchers

Perth Scorchers are currently placed at the bottom of the ladder and their position was certainly not anticipated before the tournament started. As it stands currently, they are yet to win a game in the tournament and their poor net run-rate of -0.922 reflects how poor they have been.

Their last match was arguably their best outing in the tournament so far as they managed to send a scare to their opponents' camp before failing to close the game. Batting first, the Scorchers' top-order once again perished like a pack of cards before Cameron Bancroft and Mitchell Marsh helped them to put a total of 153.

Their bowlers tried hard to keep Scorchers in the game, but lack of wicket-taking prowess cost them the match. They managed to drag the game to the final over, but with wickets in hands, Sydney Thunder proved to be too hot to handle.

All in all, there's a lot that doesn't seem to be working for the Scorchers and they'd need a complete turnaround from here. On paper, they have one of the better-balanced sides of the tournament, but their execution has been subpar. If they play to the potential of the team they have on paper, they won't take a lot of time to get out of the pit they are currently into.

Adelaide Strikers

Adelaide Strikers have done fairly well in the tournament so far and would be pretty content even though they are at the fifth spot on the points table. A win here in this match will take them into the top four. However, their net run-rate, which is -0.448, is pretty poor and they'd want to improve on that as well.

The Strikers have done well, but they haven't really looked like a confident team. Apart from their poor net run-rate, the method with which they have played speaks volumes about the way they have done. Recently, although they managed to get past Brisbane Heat, they made their win look a lot difficult to come than it actually should have been.

In the last match as well as in the tournament, to some extent, we haven't seen any batsmen they can rely upon. They somehow crawled to a total of 150 against the Heat, but after putting them into a commanding position, their bowlers somehow messed things up before making amends.

All in all, the Strikers are a decent team on paper, but lack of consistency is hurting them. They'd need to fire collectively as a team and if they can do that, they'll be in with a pretty good chance in the next match.

PER vs ADS Betting Tips

While the two teams are pretty similarly balanced on paper, the Strikers have performed better in the tournament and their position on the points table reflects that. Inconsistency is something that has been common between the two sides and we expect that to continue going forward as well. Adelaide Strikers could be without Rashid Khan and that could be a decisive omission. On the other hand, they'll have the services of Alex Carey, making their batting more potent than it currently is. The Scorchers, on the other hand, are unlikely to make any major changes. Considering the above-mentioned factors, we expect Adelaide Strikers to emerge on top in this encounter.
