Not too many people would have predicted the Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat being at the bottom of the BBL League Standings at this stage in the competition. The Big Bash league has been expanded and teams are going to be playing more matches than before but the losses are starting to add up and both teams will be under pressure to change things around.
The Perth Scorchers have won just one game from its five matches while the Brisbane Heat has lost all its three matches in Big Bash this season.
Both teams suffered narrow losses in the last match and would have been disappointed at not being able to get over the line. The pressure to win is mounting and it will be interesting to see which team cracks.
The Perth Scorchers are going to enjoy heading back to the Perth Stadium for this match. This was the only place where they have won this season and their bowling attack will be happy to have some fast conditions to work with.
The Perth Scorchers have not been the worst side this season but they have had some bad luck in the recent matches. They lost the toss on a poor surface against the Hobart Hurricanes and were once against greeted by some very slow conditions against Sydney Thunder.
The form of Michael Klinger is going to be a big concern. He is someone that has been a rock of stability at the top of the order and allowed the Perth Scorchers to play around him. Now, at the end of his career, Klinger is struggling and there may be a time to make a change.
We were happy to see Cameron Bancroft back at the position he plays best in. Number three is a pivotal position for any side and even though Bancroft did not score too many runs, the time spent in the middle will do him a lot of good.
Perth Scorchers have never been a strong batting side. They have relied on their bowling to do most of the work while the batsmen can be quite average. The lack of form from Klinger, Cartwright, and Agar is throwing that plan out of the window.
One or more of these players need to step up and support Ashton Turner in the batting side of things. He has been brilliant for the Perth Scorchers and scored a valiant 60 not out in the last match as well. Perhaps sending him up the order might be worth a try as well.
The bowing unit of the Perth Scorchers did very well the last time they played at the Perth Stadium. Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff had an excellent game and will be hoping to repeat that same kind of performance in this match too. Expect some wickets for Nathan Coulter-Nile as well.
Tye has been pretty dismal this season as has Agar. They both need to start pulling their weight if the Perth Scorchers are to move up the BBL standings.
M Klinger, CT Bancroft, Mitchell Marsh, AJ Turner, Hilton Cartwright, Ashton Agar, William Bosisto, Nathan Coulter-Nile, AJ Tye, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff.
Three losses from three matches is a pretty rough start for Brisbane Heat. The side has been used to getting off to some rocky starts in the past but this season has been particularly tough. Their famed batting order has not been providing the runs they need. Chris Lynn scored a brilliant 84 in the last match but that was not enough to get a win for his side.
How is it possible that a side with Max Bryant, Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, and Joe Burns is struggling for runs? There are also players like Ben Cutting, Jimmy Pierson, and Sean Heazlett to further boost Brisbane Heat.
At the moment, this talented batting unit is unable to perform at its expected levels. They are also going to be up against a strong bowling attack in some pretty quick batting conditions.
We think the fast and bouncy pitch at Perth may actually suit Brisbane Heat. Players like Lynn, McCullum, and Bryant love pace on the ball. If two out of their top-5 can get going then Brisbane Heat could end up scoring a massive total.
Among the batsmen so far, Chris Lynn has looked by far the best. We would love to see Brendon McCullum back at the top of the order for this match but that may not happen. If anyone has to replace him at the top then it should be Joe Burns.
Burns has been in good form in Shield cricket and is one of the most talented batsmen in Australia at the moment. With so many good batsmen at their disposal playing on some of the best batting conditions in the world, it is just a matter of time before Brisbane Heat starts getting it together.
The bowling attack of Brisbane Heat is not bad either. They have genuine pace in the form of Hames Pattinson, while Mujeeb ur Rahman provides the mystery spin option. Mitch Swepson has not been at his best this season and that is something that will concern Brisbane Heat a lot.
They had Shadab Khan and Yasir Shah as two excellent leg-spinning options last season but have placed their faith in Swepson this BBL.
With Lalor and Cutting to round out the bowling attack, Brisbane Heat is not going to mind the fast conditions in Perth either.
Brendon McCullum, Max Bryant, Chris Lynn, Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns , Ben Cutting, Jimmy Peirson, James Pattinson, Brendan Doggett, Josh Lalor, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

This BBL 08 match between the Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat is going to be played at the Perth Stadium, Perth. The weather conditions are expected to be expected to sunny and clear. We should have no weather-related interruptions in this match.
The pitch was fast and fiery in the last match and the same is expected this time around. A lot of bounce will be on offer for the bowlers while the batsmen should also get good value for their shots.
Perth Scorchers have an excellent bowling attack and are playing at home. Their batting, though, is in a poor state right now. Brisbane Heat seems to have the stronger batting attack and also has a bowling unit that is pretty capable. We think they will get their first win of the BBL in this match.
Back Brisbane Heat to win.
