PER vs BH Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 07, 2023
The Heat (seventh) will have quite the battle when they take on the first-placed (and current BBL champions), the Scorchers. The Scorchers have been playing fantastic cricket and are 5-2, but they aren’t invincible by any means.
The Heat are 2-4 and have the means to win against Perth, as well, Brisbane was unlucky not to get a victory after their match versus the Sixers was rained-out.
PER vs BH Team Previews
Perth Scorchers
Perth has been rolling in the wins thanks largely to batter Josh Inglis, who has picked up 240 total runs in the BBL (fourth-most in the league). Inglis was dangerously close to a half-century against the Renegades (out for 27), but has already made high scores of 62 and 74.
Inglis’ co-star, Ashton Turner, has been equally dangerous this season and is rounding into form with recent scores of 61 and 53. Keep an eye out for Faf du Plessis, who always has the talent to go for 80 or more in a BBL match.
The biggest bowling threat to the Heat is usually pacer Jhye Richardson, who has spent much time with Australia in international matches. Richardson’s 15 wickets this season is outstanding but he'll miss at least three weeks with an injury. There's a chance fast bowler Lance Morris will replace Richardson, but this will be a match-time decision.
Perth Scorchers Playing 11
Cameron Bancroft, Stephen Eskinazi, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Ashton Turner, Nick Hobson, Cooper Connolly, Matthew Kelly, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris.
Brisbane Heat
Although the Heat are a bit disappointing in second-last place, there is still a bright spot with the recent batting form of Colin Munro with 233 total runs. Munro was unlucky not to get a century, as he scored 98 runs recently against the Thunder, but it’s great news for the Heat if Munro is firing like this.
We’re hoping to see a bit more from Jimmy Peirson, as he’s supposed to be one of the best batters in the squad, although we’re still waiting for a match that really shows off his talent. If Brisbane is to climb the ladder, then Peirson needs to step up, especially with Matt Renshaw out of the line-up for international duty.
The Heat have one of the best bowling trios in the league with Neser, Steketee, and Swepson all proving to be some of the best up-and-comers in Australia. Neser, especially, has only gotten better with his time playing international matches for his country and recently picked up a rare hat trick against the Sixers.
Brisbane Heat Playing 11
Josh Brown, Colin Munro, Nathan McSweeney, Sam Billings, Jimmy Peirson, Max Bryant, Ross Whiteley, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Matthew Kuhnemann, Mitchell Swepson.

Pitch and Conditions
It’s a fairly even pitch at the Optus Stadium, with big-wicket hauls and large run totals both common to see. Expect to see a lot of bounce in the first few overs.
PER vs BH Betting Tips
The Scorchers still look like the favoured team here according go the odds, but if you’re feeling daring, then a chance on the Heat isn’t a bad idea. Brisbane can certainly win with its bowling attack, but if batters like Munro or McSweeney hit close to a century, then the Heat can pull off this victory.
Perth does have a better record against the Heat and have won the last three, but the Heat have a chance if batting second and reducing the Scorchers’ total to a reasonable target like 120.
