The Renegades aren’t too far behind in third place, but have been up and down lately with three wins and two losses in their last five matches. Still, there’s a lot of talent on the roster and the team remains a dark horse to take the championship.

The Scorchers are on fire right now with four wins out of their last five matches, which is extra impressive considering how easily they dispatched the Strikers. Bowling out Adelaide for only 92 runs is no easy feat, especially when star batters like Short, Carey, and Head are in the roster (all went for a combined 10 runs!).
It’s a bit terrifying just how many excellent fast bowlers the Scorchers have on the roster, as despite resting Jason Behrendorff, the team brought in Englishman David Payne (3/20) and gave three overs to spinner Peter Hatzoglou (3/14).
Lance Morris was incredible as always (3/26) and Andrew Tye continued his dominance with a 1/15 performance. Tye leads all bowlers in the team with 23 total wickets.
Aaron Hardie (412 total runs) and Josh Inglis (399 total runs) keep shining with the bat for Perth, with the two star batsmen securing the win with patient, skilful performances on the pitch.

Melbourne Renegades
The Renegades did have a great win over the Stars, but had a surprising loss to the Thunder in the next match. The usually reliable batting from Sam Harper (eight runs) and Aaron Finch (22) wasn’t quite there, and you have to think Melbourne could have won with better executions from these two.
Tom Rogers and Kane Richardson also failed with the ball, with neither picking up a wicket and giving up a combined 49 runs. It’s unusual to see the Renegades this bad, and playing the Scorchers is not exactly the time to bring it back.
Melbourne should reach the playoffs, but it seems unlikely that they’ll get the win over Perth. Perhaps after that we’ll see what the Renegades are made of. Harper (238 total runs) and Finch (279) do give the side some hope for the post-season.
