PER vs MLS Team Previews

Perth Scorchers

The Perth Scorchers got off to a rough start in BBL 2020-21 but that is not to say it has a bad team. IN fact, we think it has one of the stronger batting lineups in this competition and can give any team a run for its money.

Colin Munro and Josh Englis form a formidable opening pair. They are going to go hard from the start and may end up losing their wickets early but they are going to be very hard to stop in the matches that they do spend some time in the middle.

Joe Clarke, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner, and Cameron Bancroft are all genuine batsmen that can get massive match-winning scores. We think Bancroft is batting out of position and could be tried up the order in the upcoming matches but he can bat well in the middle-overs as well.

There is no shortage of power or depth in the Perth Scorchers lineup.

The bowling is also headlined by a largely international set of bowlers. Jason Behrendorff, Andrew Tye, Jhye Richardson, and Fawad Ahmed can get the better of any batting lineup.

One poor performance does not make this a bad team at all and we think the market may have overreacted in terms of the price being offered.

Melbourne Stars

This is the team that is everyone’s favorite right now. It is hard to look past them as they are playing some very impressive cricket. Glenn Maxwell is in red-hot form and is leading the way with the bat.

Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright are in good batting form too. We have not seen much from Andre Fletcher so far but some of his sixes have been breathtaking and the potential for causing carnage is clear to all.

With Ben Dunk and Nick Larking to round out the batting lineup, the Melbourne Stars are going to be hard to stop.

Of course, we think the real test will come when Stoinis and Maxwell both have an off-day at the same time.

The bowling has been very good in the two matches that the Stars have played. Adam Zampa is in tremendous form and is picking up wickets without giving away many runs. Dilbar Hussain from Pakistan has been impressive as have Clint Hinchcliffe and Liam Hatcher.

Surprisingly, Billy Stanlake has been the least effective bowler so far and seems to be a bit low in confidence. Maxwell himself and Cartwright usually chip in with some overs as well.

PER vs MLS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. The pitch in Launceston can be a bit unpredictable and so knowing what target you have to get is a big advantage.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no rain expected and so the conditions are going to be pretty good for cricket. We think that the pitch is going to be flat but a bit on the slower side. The small boundaries are going to tempt the power-hitters on both sides as well.

We will hopefully see a match with a lot of runs in both the innings. We think something around 170 should be par batting first.

PER vs MLS Betting Tips

We are going to back the upset in this contest. The price being offered for the Perth Scorchers is just too good to pass up. Yes, the Melbourne Stars are in good form but they are not unbeatable and the Perth Scorchers have a lot of quality in their lineup as well.

Back the Perth Scorchers to win.
