Our "Prediction Wizard" will calculate, based on the current available betting odds, the implicit winning percentages for the possible outcomes in a match. This will be updated as soon as we fetch the odds from the betting sites and keep updating until the match is finished.
The Sydney Sixers have been playing pretty well in the Big Bash League up until now but they are also going to have deal with some changes in the squad. The England international players have left the BBL and replacements are being brought in by all the sides.
The Perth Scorchers won an important match in their previous match but that was against a depleted Melbourne Stars side. The Perth Scorchers sit at the bottom of the BBL League table with just two wins from their seven matches.
The BBL teams are pretty closely stacked to each other in the standings, though, and just a couple of wins could catapult the Scorchers up towards the top. Like the Sydney Sixers, the Perth Scorchers are also going to be missing a few key players for this upcoming fixture.
The first thing that we, and any potential punter, should see is whether the Perth Scorchers are going to have Ashton Turner available to them for this match. Turner has been such a big influence on this Perth Scorchers batting that competing without him is going to be tough.
He was released from the Australian squad ahead of the first ODI after not making the final XI so there is a good chance he will play.
Cameron Bancroft played an excellent inning of 59 in the last match and signaled his return to form. We think Bancroft is playing just like was before the ball-tampering controversy and can be expected to continue scoring runs for the Perth Scorchers.
Michael Klinger also got a start but he is not the player he once was. Thankfully, the Perth Scorchers promoted Ashton Turner to number three in the last match where he once again smacked 43 off just 22 deliveries.
With Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, and William Bosisto in the playing eleven as well, the Perth Scorchers batting is looking somewhat decent. The onus on the top order to score the bulk of the runs is pretty clear, though.
Revisiting opening the batting with David Willey is also something they should consider. It allows Willey to take advantage of the powerplay and extends the batting order a little bit as well.
The Perth Scorchers have an excellent bowling lineup even with Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson missing from the lineup. Nathan Coulter-Nile, David Willey, Andrew Tye, Ashton Agar, and Usman Qadir make for a pretty strong bowling unit.
It should be mentioned here that there is an injury scare over Aston Agar. He seemed to have injured himself fielding in the next match and may have to miss out. His not being there is a big blow for the Scorchers.
CT Bancroft, M Klinger, AJ Turner, Hilton Cartwright, SM Whiteman, Cameron Green, Nathan Coulter-Nile, David Willey, AJ Tye, Matthew Kelly, U Qadir.
The Sydney Sixers will say goodbye to Joe Denly and welcome another Englishman in his place. The hugely talented and frustrating James Vince is set to join the side ahead of their match against the Perth Scorchers.
There is no player in the Big Bash League that looks as good while scoring runs as James Vince but his tendency to get out just when he looks set is something that makes us wary of betting on him. The one positive for the Sixers is that Joe Denly was struggling for runs anyway and so James Vince does not have too much pressure on him, to begin with.
The real reason for the success of the Sydney Sixers has been the form of its middle order. Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk have been very good at keeping the Sydney Sixers afloat and then exploding towards the end.
Moises Henriques has been a touch inconsistent which has also probably allowed the lower order to get so many batting opportunities. If Henriques and Vince can start to score some runs consistently then it may be very difficult to stop this Sixers side.
The biggest star for the Sydney Sixers in BBL 08 has been Tom Curran. He is a brilliant death overs bowler and loves to give the ball a smack when he is batting. More than anything else, though, Curran loves being in the contest.
The bowling lineup of Ben Dwarshius, Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve O’Keefe, and Ben Manenti has been doing very well also. If they can pick up some early Perth Scorchers wickets then the opportunity to roll them over is very much present.
Interestingly, the brothers Jack Edwards and Mickey Edwards have also been named in the 13 for the first time by the Sydney Sixers.
Jack Edwards, J Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe, Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve O'Keefe, B Dwarshuis, Benjamin Manenti.
The side winning the toss is likely to want to field first
The BBL 08 match between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers is going to be played at the Perth Stadium, Perth. The weather is expected to be clear and excellent for cricket on match day. The pitch at the Perth Stadium is fast, bouncy, and allows for exciting cricket to be played.
The fast bowlers are going to be very happy here but we believe the batsmen also have a chance to score plenty of runs.
This is going to be a close match. The Perth Scorchers are starting to get their act together and are playing at home. The Sydney Sixers have been performing above their expectations and have more players in form.
We think the Sydney Sixers have the batting depth and the variety in their bowling to win this match.
Back the Sydney Sixers to win.
