Sydney Thunder is the team to beat at the BBlr right now as it moves to the top of the league table. Its previous match was against the Hobart Hurricanes but it was played at the Perth Stadium, the same venue for this next match as well.
This time, though, Sydney Thunder is going to be playing against the Perth Scorchers.
After a poor start, the Scorchers have won their previous three matches and are now a legitimate threat in the tournament. Two form teams taking on each other should make for a very fun match to watch.
Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the Perth Stadium, Perth on the 9th of January 2021.
Perth Scorchers have finally found a batting order that works and takes full advantage of their powerful squad. There is just non-stop power at their disposal and that allows them to go hard from the very start.
Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy at the top of the order are followed by Colin Munro, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, and Ashton Turner.
If anything, we would love to Turner ahead of Inglis but at the moment this lineup is working for them. We think the Perth Scorchers have a more powerful batting lineup than Sydney Thunder.
Jhye Richardson has found his groove and he clearly loves bowling at the Perth Stadium, He picked up three wickets in his previous match while Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed, and Andrew Tye were outstanding as well.
It almost feels as if Mitchell Marsh has decided to bowl only when needed but his bowling can be very effective if a bowler is having a bad day. Currently, this Perth Scorchers unit is very strong and is finally playing to its potential.
Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Colin Munro, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, AJ Turner, Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, AJ Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed.
Sydney Thunder is playing a very different style of cricket from the Perth Scorchers and it will be interesting to see how they approach this game. Sydney Thunder relies on Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales to get it off to a good start.
That has been the case in the previous few matches and Hales has especially been able to impose himself from the very first ball he faces. We worry about the batting order that is to follow.
Callum Ferguson is in good form but Sam Billings and Alex Ross are not the most dangerous players to come down the order. While the batting is not weak, it is certainly not as strong or dangerous as what the Perth Scorchers possess.
Ben Cutting is the one player that can come in and smoke sixes during the end of the inning.
Sydney Thunder’s bowling is quite spin-heavy which could be a problem against some powerful hitter. Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha, and Arjun Nair form a big part of their attack and so their contest against the Perth batting is going to decisive.
Nathan McAndrew has turned into a very fine bowler for Sydney Thunder, and we think he could be a handful on the Perth wicket.
Sydney Thunder is playing very well but we just don’t think their squad lines up very well against the Perth Scorchers.
AD Hales, Usman Khawaja, Callum Ferguson, Sam Billings, Alex Ross, Ben Cutting, Nathan McAndrew, Christopher Green, Adam Milne, Brendan Doggett, Tanveer Sangha.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Teams have been setting big totals and defending them at the Perth Stadium and so we think this strategy will continue to be explored.

The Perth Stadium has a fast and bouncy pitch that is very good for T20 cricket. The batsmen are able to play their shots while the bowlers are able to get something for their hard work as well. The outfield is fast but the dimensions of the ground are pretty big, and the spinners are in play during the match as well.
There is no rain predicted on match day and so we should get an uninterrupted match to enjoy.
A score of around 170 is par on this wicket.
We are backing the Perth Scorchers to continue their winning run. They have a great team that loves playing at home and they should be able to overpower Sydney Thunder with their lineup.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
