The final weekend of group matches from the WBBL 2020 season is going to be insane! Every single match has some context and every other team is going to be waiting on the results.
One such match is this next one between the Perth Scorchers and the Adelaide Strikers. Both of these teams have a chance of qualifying for the WBBL playoffs depending on what happens on the weekend.
Whatever happens before this, this is a match that both teams will want to win.
Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers WBBL 2020is going to be played at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney on the 22nd of November 2020.
The Perth Scorchers are sweating on the fitness of Sophie Devine and we think this is a match that she will turn out for if, in fact, she is going to play a further role this season. There are two reasons why we think that will happen.
The first scenario is the Perth Scorchers losing their previous match against the Hobart Hurricanes. That puts it in a must-win position that now requires their best player to turn up.
The second scenario is the Perth Scorchers winning against the Hobart Hurricanes. The Scorchers still need to win their final match but it is not as dire. It is, however, the only match before Devine needs to turn up for the playoffs and so she would like to test out her back a bit.
Assuming the Devine is indeed back is a big plus for the Scorchers because their batting depth is very poor without her. Beth Mooney is brilliant, yes, but there is no one to follow after she gets out.
Chloe Piparo has played well and Amy Jones is an international player of repute but we have not seen anything of substance from the Scorchers’ middle/lower order batting so far to give us much hope.
Heather Graham, Sarah Glenn, and Taneale Peschel will lead the bowling attack. They would love to have Devine but we don’t think she is going to bowl even if she does come back.

The Adelaide Strikers have a tough task ahead of them to try and qualify. It must win both its remaining games and so if it loses to Sydney Thunder, this match may not have much meaning for it.
The Adelaide Strikers have lost batting form just when they needed it most. Laura Wolvaardt, their elegant top-order international from South Africa, promised much at the start of the WBBL but she has not been able to elevate her game to the next level.
Tahlia McGrath, Katie Mack, and Bridget Paterson have been quite poor as well.
In terms of batting strength or depth, we don’t think there is much to choose between either of the two teams.
This brings us to the bowling. Once again, the Adelaide Strikers have Megan Schutt and Sarah Coyte, two in-form and dependable bowlers but nothing much to follow afterward. This lack of depth has cost the Adelaide Strikers heavily this season already.
It needs everything to go its way if it is going to win against the Perth Scorchers in this final group match.

The team that wins the toss may want to field first, particularly if the Strikers win the toss. This being the last match, some net run-rate calculations could come into play and that is where chasing is an advantage because you know the exact target.

The North Sydney Oval should provide a pretty decent batting surface on which we can expect the runs to flow freely. The weather in Sydney is good and should not be a problem at all. Anything around 140 is going to be hard to chase down.
We think the Perth Scorchers are going to be able to scrape through in this match, although, the contest promises to be a close one. There is a lot on the line for both teams and mistakes can happen under pressure.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
