Just a day ago, Perth Scorchers caused a major upset by defeating Sydney Sixers in a rather one-sided contest. The two teams are not all set to up for another battle as the race for the playoffs gets more and more intense with every passing match. Languishing in the bottom half of the points table, Perth Scorchers will be desperate for a win here. The Sixers, as well, will want to get back to the winning ways. The match between the two sides is to be played at Blacktown International Sportspark, Sydney, on Wednesday, 11th November 2020.
Contrary to the Sixers, the Scorchers had a lackluster tournament prior to their last win over the Sixers. That was their second win in seven matches, the win that moved them to the fifth spot on the ladder. They brought in Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney to buff up their batting lineup and it took seven matches for the opening pair to finally work.
Up until the last match, Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine were contributing, but not in unison. Now, with Mooney and Devine both back in form, the Scorchers seem to be well equipped to challenge even the best in the business.
With the ball, however, the Scorchers seem to be a bit under-equipped. Sophie Devine, their primary bowler, is going at nearly nine runs an over in the tournament so far. Besides, there haven't been many contributions from the other bowlers. In the batting department as well, they have a couple of experienced players but none of them has fired yet. If Perth Scorchers manage to play to their potential, which they still haven't, getting past them will be colossal of a task.
Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, Megan Banting, Sarah Glenn, Nicole Bolton, Heather Graham, Chloe Piparo, Lauren Down, Jemma Barsby, Taneale Peschel, Piepa Cleary.
Given the team the Sixers have on paper, it was rather surprising to see them missing the semifinals last year. They have left no stone unturned this year, winning four of their five completed matches. Consequently, they are still in a pretty good position on the points table with ten points in seven matches.
It was only the first instance when their all three Australian stalwarts failed to make any impact whatsoever. Up until their match against the Scorchers, everything was working flawlessly for the Sixers and they'd want their loss to be an anomaly rather than the loss. In that loss, as well, there was an important positive of Marizanne Kapp scoring an important fifty, highlighting the depth of Sixers' batting lineup.
Up until now, there's not much wrong that the Sixers have done. Having said that, they would want a better contribution from their bowlers as most of the work so far has been done by their batsmen. If we see an improved performance from their bowlers on the whole, getting past the Sixers will be hard.
Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner, Erin Burns, Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk, Angela Reakes, Maddy Darke, Sarah Aley, Jodie Hicks, Stella Campbell.
Check out the Dream11 fantasy team lineup for the 29th Women's Big Bash League match, which is to be played between Perth Scorchers Women and Sydney Sixers Women. Don't forget to check back the latest updated team right after the toss.
With Devine and Mooney firing together, the Scorchers certainly seem to be buffed up at least in the batting department. Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, faced a blip after a stupendous start in the tournament. On paper and on the performance in the tournament so far, Sydney Sixers have been a better team between the two and are, therefore, our pick to emerge as the top in this all-important fixture.
