We are halfway through into the Women's Big Bash League and the difference between the teams at the top of the ladder and those at the bottom is negligible. The difference between Adelaide Strikers, who are at the top of the table, ad Perth Scorchers, who are at the sixth spot, is negligible. The Scorchers will be looking to bridge this gap and rise up the ladder with a win in their next match, which is to be played at Perth on 12th November. They will be up against Sydney Thunder, who too have been in superb form in the season so far.
The Scorchers got off to a relatively poor start in the competition, but have picked up pace with a couple of wins in their last few matches. Although they are still placed at the sixth spot, in the bottom-half of the ladder, a win in their upcoming match will put them to the second spot, right above Thunder, provided the results of the other matches go their way.
Not long ago, the Scorchers were reeling in the tournament, but two back to back wins have put them in a sweet spot. They are right up there with the other top-placed team with the only difference between the third placed side and them being the net run rate.
In their last match, they defeated Sydney Thunder by a comfortable margin and will be looking to do the same in the upcoming match as well. Bowling first, the Scorchers' bowlers bowled wonderfully to keep Thunder restricted to just 144. In response to their total, the Scorchers batsmen kept stitching small but useful partnership as they eventually won the match by five wickets.

Exactly opposite to Perth Scorchers, Sydeny Thunder had a terrific start to the tournament which is beginning to fade out as we are moving towards the business end of the tournament. The Thunder got off to a flying start and were at the top of the ladder for most part of the tournament up until now. Currently, they are placed at the second spot with nine points to their name in seven matches.
After completing a string of success in completed matches, Sydney Thunder lost of Perth Scorchers in their last match. Their upcoming match is also against the Scorchers and they'd need to iron out all the wrinkles they were able to identify in their last match.
Batting first on a sticky sort of a wicket, the Thunder got off to a reasonably good start, but failed to keep the momentum as they lost too many wickets too quickly at the back-end of the innings. They slid from 105 for 2 to 109 for 5 and that eventually proved to be the prime reason for their one-sided defeat.
They needed early wickets to defend this total, and although they did got those, their bowlers lacked penetration in the middle overs. Thanks to several small but nifty partnerships, the Scorchers overhauled the total with significant ease.

Before the last match, Sydney Thunder would have been favorites had these two teams met. However, considering the way the Scorchers bashed Thunder and won their earlier match, one cannot take Scorchers lightly. Scorchers have one to the best top-order in the tournament and with middle-order firing as well, they look a well settled team. Thunder, on the other hand, suffered two unfortunate results, and will be desperate to register a win in their upcoming fixture. Considering the composition of the two sides and their respective form in the recent matches, the Scorchers are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
