The Paarl Royals just could not get going in their previous match. Jos Buttler and David Miller played the bulk of the deliveries in their inning but the team could still only manage a total of 142 and that proved to be very easy for MI Cape Town.
Expect the batters to come out with a lot more intent in this match. We think you can bank on Buttler, Roy, and Miller in most matches but the likes of Lubbe, Vilas, and Morgan will also need to prove their worth. The bowling attack that took the field in the opening match was quite weak.
Tabraiz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin led the way with contrasting styles of left-arm spin with Codi Yusuf, Ramon Simmonds, and Ferisco Adams rounding out the attack. This is not an attack that we can see really troubling too many teams in SA 20 and so the batters will have to do the bulk of the work.

The Joburg Super Kings were reduced to 27 for 4 in the powerplay and that is not a position from which many teams end up winning. Malan, Hendricks, Verreyne, and Gregory all fell early with the bulk of the overs still to be played.
Faf du Plessis managed to hold the fort for some time before Donavan Ferreira and then Romario Shepherd counter-attacked. It was a fantastic fightback that saw the Joburg Super Kings reach 190. We actually like the lineup of the Joburg Super Kings and think they are being a bit underrated.
The batting clearly has depth and while the top order may not have fired in the previous match, it has a lot of quality players too. Also, Alzarri Joseph was just outstanding with the ball in the previous match and we think he is going to be a real factor in the matches to come.
Faf du Plessis had to use his bowling resources quite innovatively and he trusted Reeza Hendricks and Donavan Ferreira to bowl their full quota of overs. George Garton and Romario Shepherd still had three overs each but were not used.
The experience of Faf du Plessis in recognizing conditions and matchups is something to consider as a strength as well.
