Just when Cricket fans across the globe felt starved and were craving for some fine action, ECN Czech Super Series came to their rescue and produced some exciting cricket. Four teams out of the sixteen have finally qualified for the finals weekend and will be taking on each other to prove their supremacy in Czech Republic's domestic circuit.
The first finals day of the tournament is to be played on Saturday, 11th July 2020, at Scott Page Field, Vinor Cricket Ground, Prague. Prague Spartans Vanguards and Brno Rangers are set to lock horns in the third match of the day. Both the sides had a fantastic run in their respective groups and are expected to come out hard at each other. We expect this match to be a cracker of a contest.
Prague Spartans Vanguards topped the Group 2 of the tournament as they marched past Prague CC Knights in the last game of the second week of the tournament.
Prague Spartans Vanguards didn't have a flawless league week, but had a fantastic finish. The Vanguards got off to a solid start with wins over Vinohrady Biancos and Vinohrady Rossos, but stuttered against Prague CC Knights. They, however, still managed to finish among the top two teams, and performed brilliantly in the deciding match against the Knights. The won their league stage final by a massive margin of 22 runs as they kept Prague CC Knights to a total of 58 runs after scoring a total of 80 runs in the first innings.
On paper, Prague Spartans Vanguads appear to be a solid unit. Additionally, they seem to have grown in confidence as the tournament has progressed and that could prove to be a telling factor in the upcoming contest. He scored 82 runs in four innings at an average of 27.33. Prasannaa Ganesan was their best batsmen in the league stage and his performance could be critical in the upcoming match as well.
While their batting looks good, they appear to be a bit weak on bowling strength. Besides Satyajt Sengupta and Neeraj Tyagi, none of their bowlers managed to make a mark in the group stage and that will be a cause of concern for their management. Neeraj Tyagi picked up six wickets at an average of 5.00 and Satyajit Sengupta picked up five wickets at an average of 4.25. For Vanguards to do well, these two bowlers would have to lead their bowling attack yet again. All in all, things look nice and well-settled for the Vanguards and with the advantage of having played a game earlier on the day, they could be a difficult team to deal with on Saturday.
Farooq Shaik, Neeraj Tyagi, Vyshakh Jagannivasan, Santhosh Bemmireddy, Prasannaa Ganesan, Ghanshyam Kumar, Karthik Ekambaram, Kranthi Venkataswamy, Parth Bhalodiya, Satyajit Sengupta, Ashokkumar Somireddy.
Brno Rangers is the only team in the tournament that had to contend with its own club team to qualify for the championship round. They are coming into this round after defeating Brno Raptors, Brno Raiders, and Moravian CC. Rangers registered a stupedous win over Raiders in the group-stage finals to qualify.
Brno Rangers had a flawless group-stage campaign as it finished on top in each of the matches it played. Experience played a key role in each of its victories and it is going to be an important factor yet again. They have plenty of experience with Ushan Gunathilake and Dylan Steyn having played for Czech Republic's National Cricket team.
While they have a terrific batting unit on paper, most of the damage in the group stage was done by their bowling. The likes of Rahat Ali, Tripurari Kanhya Lal and Naveed Ahmed all bowled brilliantly to keep the opponents to the reasonable total. With the bat, it was a collective team effort with no one batsman leading the pack. However, it could be a cause of concern for their management, and the Rangers will be looking up to Ushan Gunathilake, Naveed Ahmed, and Dylan Steyn to to step up their game. If they can do that, the Vanguards will have their work cut out.
Somesekhar Banerjee, Naveed Ahmed, Saquib Sadiq, Tripurari Kanhya Lal, Somsuvro Basu, Dylan Steyn, Ushan Gunathilake, Anthony Francis, Rahat Ali, Vikram Padigala, Sandeep Tiwari.
The weather is expected to clear as the day progresses and both the captains will be wary of that. Considering the uncertainties regarding the weather and the surface, both the captains are likely to be unsure about the conditions and, therefore, we expect the captain winning the toss to field first.

With rain likely to play its part on Saturday, there are chances of this match being impacted as well. The surface conditions are likely to stay the same regardless of the overhead conditions. During the group-stage, we saw the totals of around 70 being chased down with considerable ease. With teams better acquainted with the surface as well as the conditions, the par score is likely to increase. While chasing a total of anything over 80 runs will be tricky, the team batting first will want to put a total of at least 90 runs on the board.

While Vanguards will have the advantage of playing on the surface already, the Rangers will enjoy the advantage of playing competetive cricket more recently. Rangers played their last competitive match just a week ago and looked in fantastic rhythm. On paper, Prague Spartans Vanguards appear to be a slightly better unit on account of excellent balance between bat and ball. Rangers' batting failed to perform to it's pontential as bowlers bailed the team out on almost all occasions. Considering the overall on-paper combination of the two sides and their respective performances in the group stage, Vanguards appear to be having the edge and are, therefore, our pick as the winners for the upcoming encounter.
