About the Match
The two sleeping giants of league IPL are set to start the journey this year when Sunrisers Hyderabad competes against Pune Warriors India at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Both the teams did not have a pretty good season last time but this time both will be going all guns blazing to be crowned with the supremacy of IPL champions. Though both the teams are starred with big names but the overall IPL journey has not been so convincing. But since every new IPL season marks a new beginning both the teams will be hoping to show a metal stuff this time.
Pune Warriors India
With an aggressive all-rounder and an ideal T20 player stuff, Yuvraj Singh must be eager to test all his cards consisting of Robin Uthappa, Marlon Samuels, and Luke Wright in the squad. Though the absence of Aussie diamond Michael Clarke is an issue of concern for the warriors but this might well get over if Ross Taylor, Angelo Mathews and others get going. Considering the bowling staff led by Wayne Parnell and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the opposing batsmen might face some serious bowling facing Ashok Dinda, the hard to judge Angelo Mathews and if gets a chance Mitchell Starc too.
Though Sunrisers are not having big names in their total squad apart from the captain and most stylish left handed batsman all around the globe Kumar Sangakkara, the Australian T20 star Cameron White and the lanky strike bowler Ishant Sharma. But still this team carries the power to dominate with a normal looking squad comprising of inform Shikhar Dhawan, Parthiv Patel and all able to support their captain and mainstay to win for their side. Though the batting line up might look a bit weak but as far as bowling attack is considered, the likes of South African spearhead Dale Steyn will be posing a big threat to any batsman with a constant support from Ishant Sharma and Sudeep Tyagi.
Can the newest addition to IPL, Hyderabad Sunrisers start off with a victory? It’s possible, but looks rather improbable. Pune Warriors have experienced side and they can get the team combination going far more quickly whereas a first game for Sunrisers would mean that they need to get going from the word ‘Go’ and that’s certainly not easy. Pune looks to be a better side on paper and experience of a year and good coaching staff adds to their strength. PWI is my pick for this game.
