Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United are two of the traditional powerhouses of the Pakistan Super League and both the teams sit in the qualification zone right now. Neither of the two teams has had a flawless season, though, and in fact, both their seasons have been near-identical so far.
Both of them have played seven matches, won three, lost three, and one more ended in a no-result.
They are separated only by net run-rate at the moment.
A mixed record in PSL 2020 also means that the remaining three matches are very crucial for them. The trailing teams are not too far back and errors at this stage of PSL 2020 could be very costly indeed.
Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United PSL 2020 is going to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on the 7th of March 2020.
Peshawar Zalmi flexed its batting muscles in the previous match against the Quetta Gladiators. Kamran Akmal got the side off to a fast start after which Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Liam Livingstone, and Lewis Gregory all contributed with some quick runs.
The fact that the match was shortened to 15 overs worked in Peshawar Zalmi’s favor and allowed its batsmen to play without a second thought in their minds.
We think the Peshawar Zalmi batting lineup could be just coming into its own. Kamran Akmal has already shown everyone why he is still regarded so highly in T20 cricket but it is the form of Shoaib Malik which makes us positive about Peshawar Zalmi’s future.
Shoaib Malik plays a very important role in the middle order and if he can continue to score runs then he takes a lot of pressure away from the other big hitters. Haider Ali has also been quite impressive at the top of the order as well while Liam Livingstone’s ability to clear the boundaries from ball one makes him extremely valuable in T20 cricket.
Once the batting lineup is firing, the bowling attack featuring Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali, Hasan Ali, Yasir Shah, and Lewis Gregory becomes all the more impressive. This is an all international attack that is experienced and quite capable of defending small totals if needed.
Peshawar Zalmi is peaking at the right time and another win could help it break away from the pack.
Kamran Akmal, Imam-ul-Haq, Tom Banton, Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Liam Livingstone, Carlos Brathwaite, Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali.
Islamabad United kept the faith with Colin Munro in the previous match and reaped the rewards. Munro remained unbeaten on 87 and led his side to a total of 198. Luke Ronchi also continued his good form and the big-hitters to follow did their job as well.
Islamabad United does not have as strong a batting lineup as Peshawar Zalmi and needs another brilliant individual performance to get past them. We would not advise backing Colin Munro because his consistency is never too good.
Shadab Khan has been getting runs and that will inspire him to move up the order ahead of some more established names. While this may seem to be the right thing to do in the short run, it will backfire in the long run.
Players like Colin Ingram and Asif Ali are being pushed down the order and will not get enough deliveries to face in most matches.
Dale Steyn and Rumman Raees were spectacular in the previous match for Islamabad United. They picked up early wickets and kept the run-scoring. They had a big total to defend but they never took things easy and ensured that the match was effectively won after the first six overs itself.
Shadab Khan has found some form in the previous few matches but the remaining two bowlers for Islamabad United are a bit less dependable.
There is no doubt about the danger that Islamabad Unite poses but it is definitely a weaker T20 side than Peshawar Zalmi.
Luke Ronchi, Colin Munro, Shadab Khan, Colin Ingram, Asif Ali, Rizwan Hussain, Faheem Ashraf, Zafar Gohar, Akif Javed, DW Steyn, Rumman Raees.

A lot of rain has been forecast in Rawalpindi on match day and we could have a situation where we do not get to watch a single ball in the contest. The rain is expected to fall for most of the day and be heavy enough to force abandonment.
The pitch may not get to be used in this match but if it is then the batsmen will enjoy batting on it. It is flat, even-paced, and offers nothing to the bowlers.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for Peshawar Zami vs Islamabad United PSL 2020
A rained-out match where the points are split equally seems to be the most likely outcome. However, if we do manage to get a match then Peshawar Zalmi is the team we are backing. They have a better batting lineup and the bowling unit also seems superior.
Bet on Peshawar Zalmi to win.
