The Pakistan Super League has got off to a bit of a sedate start as scoring rates have remained low and the bowlers have dominated. We are hoping that the team will start come into their own now that they would have gotten used to the conditions.
Two teams that have lost their opening match are going to be playing this match against each other. Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans would have been disappointed with their performances in the opening match.
They each had a chance to press for the win but their poor batting eventually cost them the match.
Peshawar Zalmi vs Multan Sultans PSL 2021 is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 23rd of February 2021.
Three out of the top four of Peshawar Zalmi’s batting lineup were blown away for a total of five runs. It is not easy to win after such a start and even though Ravi Bopara, Sherfane Rutherford, and Amad Butt managed to fight back, the total was never going to be enough.
Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Akmal, and Haider Ali will get another opportunity but the pressure is going to be on them. PSL does not offer too many chances for the teams to make and then recover from their mistakes.
Maybe Haider Ali could move to the top of the order and play at his normal position.
The bowling for Zalmi was okay without being outstanding. Wahab Riaz picked up early wickets while Saqib Mahmood finished strong. Neither of the bowlers, though, was able to apply pressure at all stages of the game.
Amad Butt was the most expensive and will need to improve rapidly as well.
Perhaps there is some room for a change in the bowling lineup for this next match.
Kamran Akmal, Haider Ali, Sherfane Rutherford, Imam-ul-Haq, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Shoaib Malik, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Saqib Mahmood, Mohammad Imran.
The Multan Sultans seemed to have the match in the bag against Islamabad United before losing it in the final stages. They failed to get the wicket of Lewis Gregory and got Islamabad home.
The Multan Sultans would be happy with the way their bowlers performed but their batting is a big worry. Mohammad Rizwan was the only one who got some runs as Chris Lynn, James Vince, and Rilee Rossow all struggled. Sohaib Maqsood and Khusdil Shah also failed to make an impact.
We don’t think the slow Pakistani wickets are going to be easy for the overseas batsmen of the Multan Sultans. Craig Brathwaite adds some depth to the batting lineup and can contribute with some big hits as needed.
Shahid Afridi was the star of the bowling lineup for Multan Sultans. He was the one that took the wickets and put a brake on the scoring. Carlos Brathwaite picked up two wickets in the middle to have a good game too.
Sohail Tanvir, Sohaibullah, and Mohammad Umar round out a bowling attack that is significantly weaker than some of the other teams in this competition.
Mohammad Rizwan, Chris Lynn, James Vince, Rilee Rossouw, Sohaib Maqsood, Khushdil Shah, SMSK Afridi, Carlos Brathwaite, Sohail Tanvir, Usman Qadir, Shahnawaz Dhani.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Chasing has been a huge advantage and so far all the three matches have been won by the team that has fielded first. Make sure you take this into account while placing your bets.

The conditions have been a bit slow but flat overall. There is nothing in the surface for the bowlers, however, the slow nature of the surface makes it difficult for the batsmen to score as well. As a result, we have seen some middling scores of around 140-150 batting first.
Batting becomes easier when the dew comes down and makes it easy for the chasing team.

We are going to back Peshawar Zalmi to be able to win this match and think their batting lineup will be able to learn from their mistakes in the previous game. Both teams are pretty evenly matched but a better bowling attack and a better selection of local players is what gives them the edge.
Bet on Peshawar Zalmi to win.
Kamaran Akmal was out cheaply in the opening match but we think he is still one of the most dangerous batsmen in the PSL. He was at the receiving spell of a brutal opening spell the last time around but may find things to be a bit easier this time around.
We think he should be able to get three boundaries and double your money for you!
Perhaps the best batsman in Pakistan right now and easily the one in the form of his life. Rizwan top-scored with 71 for the Multan Sultans in the previous match and hit two sixes. There is every chance that will smoke one ball past the boundary if he stays there for even a short amount of time.
