QSL vs NSW Match Prediction - Feb 26, 2023

As Queensland is already out of the running to reach the Marsh Cup Finals, the state with a 2-4 record will just be playing for pride. At last place on the ladder, QL has had a tough season with so many star players out for international duty.

NSW has been playing okay lately, but still needs some improvements. At fourth place on the ladder, they remain the likely team to reach the top four and possibly have a chance to see WA in the last match.

QSL vs NSW Team Previews

Queensland

Without Test stars like Khawaja, Labuschagne, Renshaw, Swepson, and Kuhnemann, Queensland has struggled to remain competitive in the Marsh Cup. Poor batting from Burns, Peirson, and Clayton hasn’t helped matters, with Burns especially useless without scoring over 20 runs in his last four matches.

Bryant and Heazlett have been a small ray of hope, as Heazlett made a great century in the loss to Victoria, but otherwise there’s just not enough firepower on this team.

For bowling, Sandhu (eight total wickets) and Neser (11 total wickets) have been superb, but it’s more than likely that QL will rest these two players and look toward the Sheffield Shield later on. Steketee and Bazley are very experienced and great at times, but their hearts probably won’t be in this meaningless match.

Queensland Playing 11

Blake L Edwards, Jack Clayton, Josh Brown, Paddy Dooley, Sam Truloff, Steven McGiffin, Tom Whitney, Jimmy Peirson, Liam Guthrie, Max Bryant, Sam Heazlett.

New South Wales

NSW has been largely competitive thanks to the excellent batting from Daniel Hughes, who has picked up a staggering four centuries in this season’s Marsh Cup. Hughes’ 126 runs from 130 deliveries in the recent win over Tasmania is proof that his performances can result in must-have victories. Hughes has a total of 526 runs and a huge 87.66 batting average.

If only Hughes had the batting help he deserves, as you really have to search hard for someone who can score as well as he can. Patterson has been decent with 197 total runs, but you’d like to see much better batting from the likes of Henriques, Davies, and Gilkes.

Bowling hasn’t been the best part of this NSW team, as you have to go far down the list of total wickets taken to find anyone on the squad, with the best being Chris Green with six wickets. Zampa and Abbott are both first-rate bowlers and took numerous wickets in the win over Tasmania, so we’re not too worried, but it’s barely enough to trouble a team like WA.

New South Wales Playing 11

Adam Zampa, Ben Dwarshuis, Christopher Green, Daniel Hughes, Daniel Sams, Jack Edwards, Kurtis Patterson, Liam Hatcher, Matthew Gilkes, Moises Henriques, Oliver Davies.

Pitch and Conditions

Batters love the Gabba because of the true pitch and fast outfield, which means it’s going to be a high-scoring match.

QSL vs NSW Betting Tips

It’s strange to see the Mostbet odds for these two teams being quite similar, as NSW is by far the superior team. Hughes is arguably the best batter in the Marsh Cup right now and he’s more than likely going to continue this stunning form. He may not reach yet another century, but it’ll be close.

QL’s squad is just not good enough right now and NSW’s players like Hughes, Abbott, and Zampa should get the job done.

Bet on New South Wales to win.
