QSL vs VAC Match Prediction - Nov 10, 2022

The Sheffield Shield continues to roll with Victoria taking on Queensland. The Vics don’t have exactly the best record, with four draws and one loss in their last five games. However, they’ve also had some bad luck with awful weather ending matches early.

Queensland’s last five games have been two losses, two draws, and one crucial win over Tasmania by an innings and 172 runs. Which Australian state will pick up the victory in this matchup?

QSL vs VAC Team Previews

Queensland

Queensland have got one big win under their belt against Tasmania, and certainly won’t go down without a fight in any cricket format. The batting prowess of Matt Renshaw, Marnus Labuschagne, and Usman Khawaja is threatening on any day, especially as the latter two have had recent experience playing for their country on the big stage.

Apart from his 127 runs against Tasmania, Labuschagne has been a bit underwhelming with the bat, failing to reach above 20 runs in his last three Sheffield Shield innings. Still, Khawaja and Renshaw are in fine form and can carry the side on their shoulders. Renshaw’s 104 and 200* in recent games for Queensland prove he’s ready for the opening batsman mantle.

We’re excited to see what bowlers Michael Neser and Mark Steketee can do in the upcoming match against Victoria. Steketee, especially, was incredible in his last SS game vs. WA, taking 6/38 and 1/66 in two innings. The Vics will need to be extra careful when Steketee is bowling, as he’s clearly the team’s best.

Queensland Playing 11

Jack Clayton, Gurinder Sandhu, Joe Burns, Jimmy Peirson, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson, Usman Khawaja, Xavier Bartlett.

Victoria

As always for the Sheffield Shield, and even the Marsh Cup, Victoria will have a big chance of winning if captain Peter Handscomb is in the batting groove. Why he’s not enlisted in the national side is anyone’s guess, but the fact of the matter is that he’s one of the best batters in Australia. He has an average of 74.46 and has made 968 runs in 15 innings… impressive stuff.

Handscomb is bound to have a lot of help from Travis Dean and Marcus Harris. Both are capable of scoring centuries and have done so in their last five matches, so even if one of these top three has a great innings, Victoria will be in control of the match.

For the bowling, a lot of the focus will be on pacers Scott Boland and Mitchell Perry. Either one can take command of a match with their bowling, as Perry was great against Tasmania with his 4/112. Boland was less dangerous against Tassie, picking up just 1/95, but captain Handscomb knows he’s got two great bowlers to turn to when things get tough.

Victoria Playing 11

Ashley Chandrasinghe, Cameron McClure, Mitchell Perry, Todd Murphy, Marcus Harris, Nic Maddinson, Peter Handscomb, Scott Boland, Sam Harper, Travis Dean, Will Sutherland.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather looks good in Queensland and the Allan Border field is known to be very balanced for batting and bowling, so it could be quite an unpredictable pitch.

QSL vs VAC Betting Tips

Victoria is ready for a massive Sheffield Shield win, and even though an opponent like Queensland is no one’s idea of an easy game, there’s still enough batting and bowling talent on the Vic squad to finish the job.

Handscomb is not just fantastic with the bat, but is also turning into a savvy captain that can make the correct decision at the right moment with regard to fielding and bowler choice. Victoria will have to dismiss Khawaja and Renshaw for less than 50 runs if they want any real chance of a win, but Boland and Perry are trustworthy in this area.

Bet on Victoria to win.
