QSL vs VAC Match Prediction - Nov 15, 2022

The Marsh Cup continues with Victoria battling Queensland at the Allan Border Field. It’s been a pretty poor Cup for Queensland, as the state hasn’t picked up a single win in three games. Victoria have won two out of four games after their recent victory over Tasmania by 17 runs.

QSL vs VAC Team Previews

Queensland

Queensland is desperate for a win in the Marsh Cup, but the squad does have a slight Ace up their sleeve with the fact they defeated Victoria in the tournament back in February 2022. QL recently lost their last match to Western Australia in October, but it was an incredibly narrow defeat by only five runs.

As usual, Matt Renshaw will be under the spotlights as the batter to beat. He has a superb batting average of 59.33 and picked up a fantastic 104 runs in the defeat to WA. His highest score in this format is 156*, so let’s see if he can get close to that again.

The state will be hoping for better performances from Jimmy Peirson, Usman Khawaja, and Marnus Labuschagne, who are all usually reliable batters but have been pretty unhelpful in the Marsh Cup so far.

The three bowlers that Victoria will have to look out for are undoubtedly Gurinder Sandhu, Michael Neser, and Mark Steketee. All have managed to bowl very well in the Marsh Cup, but Queensland has tended to collapse in the batting area. Neser is especially dangerous, as he took 5/28 in the loss to WA. If he can do this again, then Victoria is in trouble.

Queensland Playing 11

Sam Truloff, Gurinder Sandhu, Jimmy Peirson, Kane Richardson, Matt Renshaw, Max Bryant, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson, Sam Heazlett, Usman Khawaja.

Victoria

If Victoria is to get the victory, then it’ll likely be from another incredible batting performance from either Marcus Harris or Peter Handscomb. These two have propelled Victoria to massive wins in the past, and they can do it again when they’re in the right zone.

Harris was sublime in the recent win over Tasmania, as he scored a whopping 142 runs from 139 deliveries (including 11 fours and 3 sixes). His average has skyrocketed to 83.00 and he’s rapidly becoming one of the most exciting batters to watch in Australia. Handscomb probably has better performances in Test series like the Sheffield Shield, but he’s no slouch here in the Marsh Cup.

Queensland will have to be wary of bowlers Will Sutherland and Scott Boland, as they’re in fine form heading into this matchup. Sutherland has taken 3/99 in his last two Marsh Cup games, while Boland is even better after picking up 4/78 in his last two.

Victoria Playing 11

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch is typically very balanced for batters and bowlers, so maybe the total will be no greater than around 250 runs for each team.

QSL vs VAC Betting Tips

Although Victoria is typically a great cricket state and has all the players competing well at the moment, surely Queensland is ready for a win, right?

QL just needs at least three solid batting performances from the likes of Renshaw, Khawaja, and Labuschagne, and they’ll put themselves in a great spot for the victory. Plus, Neser and Steketee are bowling some of the best overs of their careers at the moment.

QL did beat Victoria only a few months ago, so the squad must believe they can do it again.

Bet on Queensland to win.
