QSL vs VAC Match & Analysis

The Marsh ODI Cup has given us an excellent insight into the depth of the Australian talent as well as some of the weaknesses. The lack of parity between teams seems to be one problem that is clear for everyone to see.

Even in this tournament, there seems to be a gulf in quality between the top-3 teams and the bottom-3. Mabe Victoria can change that perception after this match as it tries to get its first win of the tournament. It will be taking on Queensland, a team that has won both the matches it has played so far.

There is a lot at stake for both teams as there are still enough matches left to cause a reshuffle in the standings and nothing can be taken for granted just yet.

Queensland vs Victoria Marsh ODI Cup 2021 is going to be played at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane on the 20th of March 2021.

QSL vs VAC Team Previews

Queensland has a very well-balanced lineup that has performed well in the two matches it has played. The batting has a lot of class and depth thanks to the presence of people like Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuchagne, Matt Renshaw, and Joe Burns.

Jimmy Pierson and Jack Wildermuth also add a lot of depth to this lineup.

The fact, though, remains that Queensland has not quite seen the kind of performances it would have liked. None of the players have scored a century and only Usman Khawaja and Jack Wildermuth have gone past fifty.

There are a number of other players that have shown good form but have yet to make it count. This would be something that Queensland would want to work on for sure.

Among the bowlers, Michael Neser, Billy Stanlake, and Matthew Kuhnemann have some brilliant stats, admittedly from a small sample size. However, they are all undoubtedly in good form. Add Wildermuth, Steketee, and some good part-timers to the mix and you have an excellent bowling attack.

Queensland Playing 11

Playing 11 not yet available.

Victoria has struggled to win any of the matches in the Marsh ODI Cup 2021 edition largely because of its bowling. There is not a single player in the squad that has taken more than two wickets in the matches so far and there is just not enough pressure being exerted on the opposition.

James Pattinson did not play the previous match and it is unclear if he is going to be available or not. He makes an immediate difference to the quality of the attack, no doubt, and Victoria would love to have him back.

The likes of Xavier Crone, Zak Evans, Will Parker are all talented players but they are not in the same league as the bowling attack that Queensland has.

Victoria’s batting is not too bad. There are three players that have gone past fifty with the standout batsman being Peter Handscomb. Sam Harper and surprisingly James Pattinson are the two other players with fifty-plus scores to their names.

Victoria needs Nic Maddinson and Matthew Short to start scoring runs otherwise it is going to struggle to compete and remain too dependent on Peter Handscomb.

QSL vs VAC Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. All but three of the matches played so far have been won by the chasing team. That being said, we don’t think winning the toss is a huge advantage in these conditions.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

This is the first match in the Marsh ODI Cup 2021 that is going to be played at the Allan Border Field. In the past, though, this venue has been good for batting generally although it does have a little bit of bounce to aid the bowlers. The pitch does not have any great pace in it, though, and so the batsmen should be able to adjust pretty easily.

A score of around 260 should be seen par batting first.

QSL vs VAC Betting Tips

We are going to back Queensland to win and get its third victory on the trot. It has a better batting lineup and a much superior bowling unit to give it a healthy advantage in the contest.

Bet on Queensland to win.
