QSL vs WAC Match Prediction - Dec 01, 2022

It’s quite the matchup with Western Australia facing Queensland in the Sheffield Shield. WA has four wins and one draw and appear to be the favourite, but Queensland is rarely to be discounted and is keeping pace with two wins, one loss, and two draws.

QSL vs WAC Team Previews

Queensland

With no Marnus Labuschagne or Usman Khawaja in the lineup due to international cricket duties, it will be down to the likes of Matt Renshaw, Jimmy Peirson, and Joe Burns to score the big runs. However, this is no easy task and QL will miss the leadership of Khawaja and Labuschagne.

Renshaw is probably the most reliable batsman for QL by averaging 38.08 in the SS, and he’s been spectacular at the crease lately. Renshaw made 81 & 101 in the Australia A game versus the West Indies, as well as 200* against NSW in October. Peirson has been struggling lately and is a bit hard to predict, but there’s usually a good performance from Burns to help out Renshaw.

Queensland will be happy to have Neser and Steketee back from their Australia A stint, as both pace bowlers have been in form lately. Steketee did pick up six wickets and Neser had two in the match against the Windies, and WA will certainly have to be extra careful during their overs.

Queensland Playing 11

Bryce Street, Jack Clayton, Sam Truloff, Gurinder Sandhu, James Bazley, Joe Burns, Jimmy Peirson, Matt Renshaw, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson.

Western Australia

WA has reeled off three straight wins in a row in the SS, and look poised to make it four. The squad is full of fantastic batters, but perhaps none more so than Sam Whiteman and Cameron Bancroft. These two can easily elevate WA to new heights and it’s often down to their big scores that the state is victorious.

Whiteman is solid by averaging 37.85 in the SS, and although it was unusual for him to score zero in two innings versus Queensland previously, his next match was a staggering 193 runs. Still, he’s often dependable and important to the WA lineup. Bancroft was equally impressive by scoring 135 against SA in a recent game.

The bowling will be down to pacer Matthew Kelly and spinner Corey Rocchiccioli to get the job done, as both have been outstanding in the SS. Kelly picked up 9 wickets against SA, and absolutely decimated NSW with four wickets for only 14 runs. Rocchiccioli was impressive against NSW as well, by taking 8/99 in his bowling stint.

Western Australia Playing 11

Ashton Agar, Aaron Hardie, Sam Fanning, Teague Wyllie, Cameron Bancroft, Hilton Cartwright, Josh Inglis, Joel Paris, Lance Morris, Matthew Kelly, Sam Whiteman.

Pitch and Conditions

Pace bowling is always good on this pitch, but batters can also use this speed to their advantage.

QSL vs WAC Betting Tips

Queensland will give WA a good challenge, but although the odds are decent, we trust Western Australia far more to pick up the victory. They’ve got a lot more batters that are trustworthy and a solid bowling attack that could give QL some trouble. Queensland has a small chance with Renshaw batting, but he’ll need much more help.

Bet on Western Australia to win.
