About the Match
Rajasthan Royals with 12 points from 10 matches are playing Delhi Daredevils, who occupy the bottom of the table with just 4 points from 9 matches, at Ahmedabad on 15th May. In the previous match between the two teams, the Royals won by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare; the Daredevils have almost gone into oblivion as far as their chances of making it to the next stage is concerned but they can play spoil sport for the opponents. With the home crowd support, Royals will look to strengthen their position whereas Delhi will look for some redemption here.
They have almost lost the chance of making it to the next level, having scored only 4 points from the previous 10 matches; they lack determination and commitment in batting, bowling and fielding. In the last match played against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, they were a pathetic lot with poor fielding; Opponents, Yuvraj and AB de Villiers took every bowler to task and scored big runs easily and the havoc played by Yuvraj was crucial for the win of Royal Challengers. Delhi had to make 187 to win the match if they were to be still in the contest; they did their best after losing early wickets of Quinton de Kock and Murali Vijay with Pietersen, in the company of Mayank Agarwal and later with J P Duminy making every one stand and acclaim their effort. Jadhav also tried his best to scare the Royal Challengers, but ultimately they lost by 16 runs. They have to put all their might to stop the winning streak of Rajasthan Royals, who are better equipped in every department of the game.
The Royals are a balanced side and a well knit team to tilt the contest to their side against most of the opponents. In the last clash the two teams had, the Royals won convincingly by 7 wickets scoring the target of 153 set by the Daredevils, who lost 5 wickets, with most of the top order playing well. However, their bowling was below par and they could dislodge only three of the Rajasthan Royals wickets and that too after allowing flourishing of the 2nd and 3rd wicket partnerships. Nair for Royals played a sterling innings of 73 off just 50 balls remaining unbeaten; Rahane is consistently playing the anchor’s role as a reliable opener in most occasions and Watson and Tambe are proving too much for the opponents. In their last match against Chennai Super Kings, batting first they could muster only 148 runs which the Super Kings achieved with 2 balls to spare losing 5 wickets. They have effective bowling attack in Richardson, Binny, Faulkner and Bhatia whereas Watson and Tambe are in devastating form with the ball, proving to be a batsman’s nightmare.
Delhi may try its best to redeem itself but with the competition heating up, the Rajasthan Royals may not like to lose their position in the contest and are definitely favored to win the match.
