About the Match
After some superb matches and close finished games in the week 1, IPL 6 is entering week 2 and what a start to the week. The first match of the second week is between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This is the match 8 of the IPL 6 and it will be played on Monday April 8, 2013 at 8 PM IST at RR’s home-ground, Sawai Mansingh Stadium at Jaipur. Both the teams have started on a winning note in this IPL and the common factor is that both of them have won against the same team Delhi Daredevils.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
RR would be on a high after having a close contest with the Delhi Daredevils. The batting of the team has been in good from and the captain, Rahul Dravid, is leading from the front. He scored 65 in the game and his batting enabled players like Ajinkya Rahane to play their natural game. The good news for the team is that Shane Watson is back and that adds lot of weight to all departments of the game. Stuart Binny played superbly scoring quickfire 40 of 20 balls in the end. Brad Hodge, the highest run getter in T20 format also did superbly in the absence of Rahul Dravid who did not field due to pulling of a muscle. Bowling department also looks fine with Sreesanth bowling economically and West Indian Kevon Cooper taking 3 crucial wickets in the first match.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
KKR also would be on a high after winning the first match quite convincingly with superb all round performance. KKR’s captain Gambhir is also in good form scoring 42 of 29 balls in the first match. However, the key player to look out for would be again the mysterious bowler Sunil Naraine who picked up 4 wickets in the match. KKR’s other batsmen Kallis, Tiwari, Morgan and Yusuf Pathan are expected to fire as they showed signs of decent from in the match. The bowlers Brett Lee and Balaji have also been decent as they have picked wickets at crucial times. However, the key batsman, Brendon McCullum, will be unavailable for this game as well as he is suffering from a hamstring problem.
Both the teams are high on confidence and would like to carry on their winning streak. KKR has not lost their last five games and the team is looking pretty solid in all departments. They would like to win and prove that they are the true champions. On the other hand, RR is playing at their home and Dravid will like to make full use of this. The teams have won 5 matches apiece in their previous 11 encounters and one match was tied. So there is hardly anything to choose between the two. But since RR is playing at home and Watson back in the side, they have a slight edge over KKR. So the favorite to win this exciting contest is RR and we hope to have yet another cracking game today.
