Royal Challengers did well to make it to the 3rd spot while Rajasthan Royals slipped down to the fourth position on the points table after a series of disappointing performances in recent outings; the team that loses this match will be ousted from the tournament while the winner will fight against the losing team of qualifier 1. RCB after their recent hard work will be eager to continue with their winning momentum till the end; on the other hand, the Royals have delivered under pressure this season of IPL and will be eager to make amends on Wednesday.
It has been a slippery slope for this team but they are still alive winning the match against KKR by 9 runs; Shane Watson’s 104 off just 59 comprised of a volley of thunderous strokes to pilot Royals to a mammoth 199 on board. Rahane also played a handy innings by scoring 37 off 22. Royal Challengers Bangalore
Although their last match against Daredevils was washed off due to heavy rain, their previous win against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets helped them get to the playoffs; against Delhi they had to chase down the competitive total of 187 but the innings lasted only 7 balls before the clouds opened up to abandon the game. Patel and Chahal chipped in with crucial wickets while Mitchell Starc also made his presence felt by bowling economically. In their previous match, skipper Kohli’s 19-ball 44 in Hyderabad gained them two vital points; Chris Gayle blasted 35 off 10 balls but it was Kohli’s heroics that took the team safely home. Overall, RCB wears a settled look with Kohli, Gayle and AB de Villiers leading a new dimension to T20 batting while Mitchell Starc has made a huge difference to their attack along with Patel and Chahal. RCB has a wealth of talent in their ranks and are confident to beat any team to reach the finals.
It’s a crucial encounter for both sides and the team that can dominate the proceedings right from the start will have a vantage point. The Royals have been a tough unit to crack for majority of the tournament and they will bring their A-game on Wednesday; RCB on the other hand has many explosive top order batsmen who can dictate the result of the game, but has still looked vulnerable whenever they were put under the pump. Therefore, we feel that Rajasthan Royals with their composure and never-say-die attitude are better placed to win the match.
