About the Match
It would be a royal night when two royals, one from Rajasthan and the other from Bangalore lock horns against each other. The match is to be played on 20th April and would be a night game. Currently, both teams are comfortably placed at the top half of the table and it would be a real good game to watch. Due to big names in their side, RCB are looking favorites, but RR is not a side to be taken lightly. Their head to head record is pretty even with RCB winning five and RR four out of their ten outings. There’s nothing to choose between the royals and I expect it to be a thrilling game of Cricket.
Rajasthan Royal may not have many big names in their side, but they do have the team spirit to topple big sides on big occasions. They were crowned in the first edition of IPL despite being underdogs. In this season, they are sitting comfortably behind SRH and have lost just a game out of five played so far. Mumbai Indians proved no match for RR in the last game and were beaten comprehensively. With Rahane, Watson and Dravid in the top order and Hodge in the middle, RR is having a good enough batting lineup to beat any team. Their bowling may not look potent, but with the local talent they have in Trivedi and Chandila, it can get very difficult to score against them. All in all, RR is better than what it appears to be on paper.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Royal Challengers Bangalore is a side with big guns including Gayle and de Villiers. Apart from them, it’s only their skipper, Virat Kohli, on whom they can count on. Their batting in this season has struggled when the above three got out. It is evident from the last game that their lower order does not have enough experience to tackle the IPL pressure. RCB side is a top heavy and one of those three needs to stay till the end. Their bowling is not excellent, but good enough to create doubts in the opponents’ mind. Even if one of their big guns get going, it becomes extremely tough to stop RCB from racing to the target, so a difficult side to beat.
This match is to be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, the home of RCB and Rahul Dravid. That being said, a lot of crowd is expected to be pulled in and equal support for both the sides is expected. Can Dravid’s men prevail over Kohli and Co. in their own backyard? Yes, it’s possible and looks probable too. RR has been in superb form and Watson is showing excellent signs with his batting. Hodge, Rahane and Dravid have all contributed with bat and their bowling so far has been superb. I’d place my money on the Rajasthan Royals.
