About the Match
The Riders have climbed to the 3rd position after accumulating 8 points from 7 matches; they will go up against Dynamites, who are currently placed fourth with 6 points from 6 matches, on 6th December at Dhaka. The Riders suffered defeat against the Bulls by 6 wickets after mustering only 104 runs batting first; they will be eager to go back to their winning ways with a better show in the upcoming match. The Dynamites on the other hand have suffered two straight losses against the Victorians and Bulls and will try to make a comeback with a win here; it needs to be seen which team can keep a cool head above its shoulders and soar ahead of the other here on Sunday.
It has been a mixed run so far for the Riders in the last few matches, winning against Vikings but losing the contest against Bulls. In the game against Vikings, the bowlers, led by Shakib Al Hasan and Arafat Sunny, who took 2 wickets apiece, strangled the opposition to just 111 runs. The batsmen successfully chased the target with 3 overs to spare, thanks to a spectacular 58 off 56 by Soumya Sarkar and 47 runs made by Jahurul Islam. Mohammad Nabi, the Afghani spinner, Sammy and Muktar Ali contained the run-flow and provide great depth to the attack.
Against Bulls recently, the batsmen crumbled hopelessly with players like Shakib and Soumya Sarkar unable to withstand the pace attack by Al-Amin Hossain; they could only gather 104 runs and with D/L method in play in the second innings, they couldn’t win the match despite a brilliant show with the ball by WahabRiaz, Sunny and Shakib.
They have a good batting line-up and a variety of bowlers both with spin and pace, who can provide regular breakthroughs and help the team win matches from any situation.
They had started the season well with a victory against the Victorians by 6 wickets after chasing own 111 runs successfully; bowlers Abul Hasan, who took 3-29, and Mosharraf Hossain, who took 2 wickets, had helped restrict the opposition to a low total, which the batsmen achieved easily.
However, their defeat against Riders soon after exposed some weaknesses in their batting line-up after failing to chase 177; Sangakkara fought a lone battle as he posted 29 runs and without much support from others like Ryan ten Doeschate and Shamsur Rahman they were all-out for just 107 runs, losing the match by a massive 69 runs.
Although they have done well in some outings, they will need to start winning more often if they want to make it to the next stage; with experienced players like Sangakkara and Doeschate and in-form bowlers like Yasir Shah, Farhad Reza and Mustafizur Rahman, they definitely have the resources to win the upcoming match.
While the Riders are better placed in the points table after a tremendous show till now, the Dynamites have the home advantage here and will be motivated to do better and climb up the ladder with a win on Sunday
