The Titans dethroned Dynamites from the top place, and are a buoyant side at the moment with 4 consecutive victories; the Riders on the other hand have done well to climb up the ladder with 2 back to back wins, and will put up a tough fight here on Tuesday.
Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad punched an unbeaten 51 to steer the team across the finish line against Victorians, helping them successfully chase down 123. Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar did well as they kept the runs flowing with 45 and 22 runs respectively. Earlier, the bowlers led by speedster Rubel Hossain who took 2-27, restricted the opposition to 122; he got good support from Sohag Gazi and Anwar Ali who took one scalp each. Spinners Shahid Afridi, Liam Dawson and Arafat Sunny stifled the Victorians, and they are capable to repeat the good show.
In the match against Bulls, the batting line-up posted 175 runs batting first, thanks to a superb 62 off 44 by Mithun and good support by Dawson and Afridi, who ensured to keep the scoreboard ticking. Sohag Gazi claimed 3-19 with his spin attack while Rubel Hossain dismissed two crucial wickets in successive deliveries to deal a heavy blow to the opposition. Afridi did well to take 2 wickets while Dawson and Sunny contained the opponents, helping them win the match by 12 runs.
Overall, the Riders have plenty of match-winners like Afridi, Shahzad, Mithun and other bowling experts, who can outwit the high-flying Titans here.
The Titans have proved to be a tough unit, winning close matches whether in defending or chasing targets; in the recent game against the Bulls, the in-form speedster Shafiul Islam notched up a 4-17 to strike hard against the opposition, and contain them to 129 all-out. He was well supported by spinner Mosharraf Hossain and fast-bowler Junaid Khan, who took 2 wickets apiece. Mahmudullah and Cooper bring their all-rounder capabilities to the table, and they can add depth to the attack.
Against Dynamites, Mahmudullah posted a well-made 62 while Fletcher, Shuvagata Hom and Taibur Rahman contributed well with the bat to take the total to 157. Mosharraf Hossain used his spin skills to dismiss 3 opponents in an economical way while Cooper contributed with 3 more wickets although he could have been more disciplined. Speedsters Junaid Khan, Safiul Islam and spinner Taibur Rahman took a wicket each to get the opposition all-out and win the match by a close 9 runs.
The players are thrilled after their recent conquest of the top position in the league and they surely have received a morale boost. With an in-form bowling attack and plenty of all-rounders, Titans are definitely the team to look out for.
Both teams have registered wins in their last outing, and will be determined to keep the momentum going; although the contest could swing either way, we feel that Titans are clear favourites to win.
