No rivalry in IPL is bigger than the rivalry between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, but the one that comes close to this rivalry is probably the one between CSK and RCB. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore have always been fierce opponents and the fact that these two teams are led by two Indian captains, one current and one former, adds to the excitement.
Dealt with a knockout blow from Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded match, Chennai Super Kings are now set to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore, the other team that is cruising through in the tournament. Although the respective fates of the two sides are more or less fixed as far as progressing to the next round is concerned, the two teams will come in hard at each other. This is the first game of the two that are to be played on Sunday, 25th October, and will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
Royal Challengers Bangalore's camp will be well aware of the situation the Super Kings are going through. After all, the Challengers have spent many seasons near the bottom of the table. Having said that, the table have flipped this year as Royal Challengers Bangalore find themselves well-placed in the race for the top two spots on the points table.
As it stands, men in red and golden are currently placed at the third spot with only net run-rate separating them and the two other teams above them. A win here will push them to the top position and that is what they'll be aiming for. It is remarkable how the Royal Challengers have improved their net run-rate. At one moment, after their first loss against KXIP, Royal Challengers Bangalore's campaign appeared to be a sinking ship, but the way they have turned it around is commendable.
While it is the batting that the Challengers from Bangalore are known for, it was actually their bowling that won them against the Knight Riders. Mohammad Siraj was brilliant with the new ball and single-handedly dismantled KKR's top order. He got ample support from Chris Morris, Navdeep Saini, and Isuru Udana, who all did pretty well on the day. Apart from the speedsters, it is the spinners that have worked wonders for RCB. While Yuzvendra Chahal is already a known force with the ball, the management will be pretty impressed by how Washington Sundar has done. Also, credit to Virat Kohli who has used him perfectly as far as tactics are concerned.
On paper and going by the performance in the tournament so far, Royal Challengers Bangalore have a terrific team. The form of Aaron Finch could be a concern, but they might not want to tinker with their winning combination so late in the tournament. They have a batting lineup that goes deep with the availability of two of the world's best white-ball players. They are an immaculately balanced team and with the momentum they have gathered over the last few matches, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore is going to take some effort.

Following the game that Chennai Super Kings were so desperate to win, things have turned worse from bad for the team in yellow. They suffered their first-ever ten-wicket loss in the tournament and are set to miss the playoffs for the first time in the 12-year history of the Indian Premier League. Nothing seemed to be working for CSK before their clash against Mumbai Indians and it didn't change even an inch after the clash. If anything, it only went downhill.
CSK came out with three changes to their playing eleven, a move that one does not really relate with the Super Kings. Over the years, the Super Kings are known to stick with a set combination and those three changes reflected desperation in the Super Kings' camp. Now that the chances to qualify are over, we expect them to come out and express themselves on the field.
In the tournament, there isn't much that has gone the Super Kings way after they announced themselves with a terrific win over Mumbai Indians. They have struggled to get their combination right and a few injuries in between didn't help them either. They are at the point of no return at the moment and we might see their youngsters getting an opportunity, not just in the upcoming match, but also in the other matches to follow.
It's not only the losses that would have shaken the Chennai Super Kings' camp, it is also the manner in which they came. Their most recent defeat, against Mumbai Indians, perfectly summed up the tournament for them as barring Sam Curran's fighting knock, nothing seemed to work. In the tournament gone by, only Curran and Faf du Plessis have somewhat managed to drag Super Kings. A lot will be expected from them in the upcoming match as well, but for CSK to do well, the youngsters will have to join the party. Maybe, Chennai Super Kings end up finding a spark from somewhere that helps them regain their lost pride and finish the tournament on a high.

Getting set is going to be of high importance on this surface. As much important will be to pace the innings that knowing what to score will aid tremendously in that aspect. Since this is a day game, dew will not have any impact whatsoever in this game. We believe the surface will tend to get a bit slower in the second innings and hitting big shots will be difficult. The captain winning the toss will want to bat first.

In the last few matches, the surfaces at all three venues have quickened up under lights. Much of that can be attributed to dew, which is beginning to have an increasingly pronounced impact with every passing game. We saw a bit of fresh grass on the surface in the last match and it could be the case yet again. While the surface will not be a belter by any stretch of the imagination, the batsmen once set will enjoy batting here. As seen in the last few matches, setting up a total is going to be a difficult task. The team batting first would want to put a total of at least 170 runs on the board.

While this match is not going to have any impact on the top four teams on the points table, it is still a match that both sides would like to win. Chennai Super Kings would want to get a few points on the board and finish the tournament on a happy note whereas, for Royal Challengers Bangalore, this match could prove to be a stepping-stone to finish among the top two teams. Having said that, the Super Kings are likely to give their youngsters a free run to go out and express themselves. Considering the recent form and the on-paper composition of the two sides, Royal Challengers Bangalore are firm favorites to emerge on top in the 44th match of IPL 2020.
Our Favorite Bets
Virat Kohli - Total Runs - Over 29.5, 1.83 @ Betway
Virat Kohli is one of the best limited-overs batsmen in world cricket and has been brilliant in the last few matches. He generally plays risk-free cricket in the early part of his innings and scores well more often than not. Given the form he is in, Kohli should score a personal score of over 29 in the upcoming match.
Team with Top Batsman - Royal Challengers Bangalore, 1.72 @ Betway
Chennai Super Kings have struggled in the tournament and that is evident by their bottom of the table position. A big reason of their poor show in the tournament has been their batting. Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, have been brilliant with the bat and almost all of their top five batsmen have been in terrific touch. For those reasons, the best batsmen of the day should come from the RCB camp.
AB de Villiers - Total Sixer - Over 0.5, 1.50 @ Betway
AB de Villiers is arguably the most complete batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League and his six-hitting abilities are second to none. He doesn't really need too many balls to get going and his recent innings are proof enough of that. Hitting at least one six should be pretty easy for AB de Villiers and that is all you need to win this pretty safe bet.
Match Total - Over 323.5, 2.035 @ 1xBet
While Chennai Super Kings haven't been in form to remember with the bat, the Royal Challengers have done pretty well. CSK had a terrible outing last time and are likely to come back stronger in this nothing to lose game. RCB already have a terrific batting unit. Keeping those factors into consideration, this bet certainly doesn't look as bad as the odds suggest. Go for it.
