IPL 2019 has been keenly contested but two of the teams that have found it difficult to stay with the rest of the pack are Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals. These two teams are now going to be taking on each other at the Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru and try to arrest an IPL season that is going downhill fast.
The situation for the Delhi Capitals is a bit better coming into this game. They have won two out of their five matches while RCB has lost all five of its matches so far. Everything seems to be going wrong for Virat Kohli and his men in IPL 2019. They have either played badly and lost by big margins or somehow ended up on the losing side from strong winning positions.
RCB will target the Delhi Capitals as an opponent against which it can definitely succeed.
There was a lot of speculation about what RCB would do to its team composition coming into the last match and they made some changes. Tim Southee and Pawan Negi came into the side to give the bowling a boost while the batting remained the same.
It seemed like it had worked too as RCB came very close to winning the match. Needing to defend 53 runs off 18 balls, RCB ended losing with five balls to spare. That loss will take its time to sink in. Bangalore does not have much time to think and must get itself ready to face Delhi now.
We don’t think RCB is going to make too many changes to its side. Maybe Nathan Coulter-Nile can come in for Tim Southee or Washington Sundar for Mohammad Siraj but that is about it. The pitch offered some help to the spinners towards the end and this is why Sundar looks like a better fit for the playing eleven.
Surely, now is also the time when RCB changes its opening combination. Parthiv Patel played 24 balls for 25 and set RCB back by at least 15 runs overall. Promoting Stoinis or Moeen Ali to the opening role seems like an easy decision to us.
Virat and Ab de Villiers are in excellent form and will need to repeat their performance against Delhi as well. There is no lack of batting strength in RCB but its bowling will have to continue to improve. Currently, Yuzvendra Chahal is the only bowler on whom Virat Kohli can depend on.
Parthiv Patel, V Kohli, AB de Villiers, Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Akshdeep Nath, Pawan Negi, TG Southee, NA Saini, YS Chahal, M Siraj.
The Delhi Capitals have struggled at their home base because of some truly poor pitches that the Ferozshah Kotla has served up. This is why we believe that the Delhi team is going to be happy to come to Bengaluru where the surface has been excellent for batting so far.
The Delhi Capitals have a side that can be quite dangerous on a good batting surface. They have batsmen that can go hard and fast bowlers that can utilize the bounce on the surface as well. The Delhi management will also have seen the impact that the spinners had and there may be a temptation to play Amit Mishra as well.
The Delhi team is quite balanced on paper. They have a strong batting lineup, power in the middle, and some very good bowlers too. We are not sure what Rahul Tewatia is in the side to do but he may not be present in the playing eleven for the next match.
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant makes for the strongest set of Indian batsmen in IPL 2019. Add Colin Ingram and Chris Morris to the mix and Delhi should not have any problem getting enough runs on the board.
The team’s batsmen have not been firing so far, though, and will need to be at their best against RCB.
One area where Delhi Capitals is definitely stronger than RCB is the bowling. They had Kagiso Rabada, Chris Morris, Sandeep Lamichanne, and Ishant Sharma as apart of the playing eleven in the previous game.
There are Axar Patel and Rahul Tewatia to add to the side as well.
Delhi Capitals are a very good team that is currently underperforming. The real question here for punters is whether they believe in the team’s potential to be able to overcome this difficult run of losses.
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, RR Pant, R Tewatia, Colin Ingram, Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, I Sharma, Sandeep Lamichhane.
Chasing has been the preferred choice for teams winning the toss at this venue. The small boundaries make defending totals difficult and so the team winning the toss is likely to want to field first.

RCB vs DC IPL 2019 is going to be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The weather is expected to be excellent for cricket with the sun expected to shine uninterrupted. This is a day match and traditionally the scores have been a bit lower than matches that start at night.
The pitch at Chinnaswamy saw 400 plus runs being made in the previous match. There was some evidence that the spinners would play more of a role moving ahead but we still think a high scoring match is likely.
The Dream 11 lineup for RCB vs Delhi Capitals is made keeping in mind the good batting pitch, small boundaries, and the number of world-class batsmen taking part in this match. A high scoring match seems likely and this is why we have tried to include the top-batsmen from both teams.
Wicketkeeper: The choice here was between Parthiv Patel and Rishab Pant. This one is an interesting choice and not as straightforward as it may seem. RCB is hell-bent on keeping Parthiv as the opener which gives him a good opportunity to score some runs. Pant, though, is the better batsman and can score at an incredible strike rate when he gets going. We have gone for Pant in the side.
Batsmen: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Prithvi Shaw. These are all top-order batsmen that have been in good form. In the case of Kohli and de Villiers, their performance could dictate how well RCB does and they will be aware of that. Prithvi Shaw could be the X factor pick in this side. He has tended to get out extremely early or play a big inning and he won’t get a better opportunity than at Bengaluru.
All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis is a must in every team. He could be promoted to open the batting but even if he does not, his batting is very destructive later in the inning. After spending so freely on the batsmen, we needed to get some value picks into the side. The second all-rounder we have picked is Rahul Tewatia who bowled pretty well in the previous match.
Bowlers: We have three space left for the bowlers. Sandeep Lamichhane, Navdeep Saini, and Pawan Negi are the ones we have picked. There was some help for the spinners in the pitch the last time around and the same can be expected in this match. Lamichhane is also going to be brought in to try and bowl his googlies to Kohli and de Villiers setting up an interesting matchup.
Captain and Vice-Captain: AB de Villiers strikes more sixes and hits his runs at a better strike rate than anyone else. Picking him as captain in his current form was easy. We have picked Prithvi Shaw as the vice-captain in this match seeing his position as the opener and his run-scoring ability.
Choosing between two inconsistent sides that have been struggling to perform at their best can be a bit tough. RCB has won the last five matches against Delhi Capitals, so they clearly like playing against him. Home advantage and familiarity with the conditions are also on RCB’s side. We think it may be time for the RCB losing streak to end.
Back Royal Challengers Bangalore to win.
