About the Match
The Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a terrible start as they lost their opening match to the Sunrisers by 35 runs. Can they recover and put up a better show at home against the Delhi Daredevils?
A return to their home ground is always comforting for RCB that have packed their team with big hitters capable of taking advantage of the small boundaries and high altitude at the Chinnaswamy. Unfortunately for RCB, a lot of those hitters are unavailable. They are missing Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan for sure and AB De Villiers too might take another game before he gets on the park.
This means that Bangalore is without its top three run scorers from last season and one of their ace finishers.
The first game against the Sunrisers did bring some positives. Chris Gayle looked in good touch as did Travis Head before they got out. Shane Watson was looking unfit but he is bound to get in the groove of things sometime soon. Kedar Jadhav looked an absolute million bucks before he got out unluckily and would be our recommendation for the top batsman in the RCB side.
The bowling for RCB looks understaffed and only Tymal Mills and Yuzvendra Chahal looked threatening. Chahal has found his methods to be effective even on a high scoring ground and he is our pick to be the top bowler in the RCB side.
Delhi Daredevils suffered two big blows even before the tournament began after they lost Quinton de Kock to injury and JP Duminy pulled out because of personal reasons. This will mean that a lot of the batting will depend on Indian youngsters.
Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant are all promising youngsters that will want to make their mark, while Sam Billings too should get ample opportunities this time around. Billings is one of the most underrated t20 cricketers going around and is our pick to be the top batsman from the Delhi Daredevils.
Delhi does have some excellent pace bowlers in its lineup with Mohammad Shami, Chris Morris, and Kagiso Rabada all expected to make the first eleven. Zaheer Khan has been out of cricket since the last IPL but may still have some tricks up his sleeve.
Amit Mishra as the spinner is also invaluable as he is one of the leading wicket-takers in the IPL since the tournament began. The bouncy Bangalore wicket offers a lot of runs to the batsmen but fast bowlers looking to bend their back can get some good purchase out of them.
Back Kagiso Rabada to start his IPL career in style and be the top wicket-taker for the Delhi daredevils.
RCB is hamstrung by the fact that some of their top players are unavailable and we think that Delhi has got a good opportunity to take advantage of this unsettled lineup. Back Delhi Daredevils to win
