The Royal Challengers Bangalore put up one of their worst performances in a very long time as they completely capitulated against the Kings XI Punjab team. Now, they are going to be going up against the Mumbai Indians, a team that swept past KKR with ease in its previous match.
This match is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Stadium, a venue where the ball has tended to come on slowly and make batting a bit difficult. Both teams prefer the ball coming on to the bat but they have to be good enough to adapt to all conditions.
Can Virat Kohli inspire his team to victory after a personally forgettable match for him or will Rohit Sharma’s team continue to roll over opponents?
RCB vs MI IPL 2020 is going to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on the 28th of September 2020.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore played well to register a win in their opening match but some of their weaknesses got masked because of SRH’s poor performance. Devdutt Padikkal had a good start to his IPL career but whether he is able to sustain that performance remains to be seen.
Josh Philippe comes with a big reputation but is unproven in spin-friendly conditions. His shot against Mohammad Shami in the previous match does not inspire much confidence. Also, the complete lack of any effect that Dale Steyn has had so far is surely the last straw! RCb must bring in Chris Morris to address those concerns.
In fact, the bowling lineup for RCb is looking quite weak. Umesh Yadav has been expensive and ineffective in the powerplay, Shivam Dube is not really a bowling all-rounder (even though he is being used as one), and Dale Steyn is a spent force.
Yuzvendra Chahal and to some extent Navdeep Saini are the only two bowlers that are seen as threats by the opposition.
Expect changes in this lineup for the upcoming match.
The batting was supposed to be where RCB wins most of its matches but that is not working out either. Aaron Finch is going to struggle more often than not in the UAE, Virat Kohli is out of touch, and there is a big question mark over Josh Philippe.
AB de Villiers cannot do everything alone, which is the position he often finds himself in.
RCB has a lot to worry about ahead of its match against the Mumbai Indians.
Devdutt Padikal, Aaron Finch, V Kohli, AB de Villiers, Shivam Dube, GR Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, NA Saini, Isuru Udana, YS Chahal, Adam Zampa.
Rohit Sharma led his side to a great total against KKR in the previous match. He made 80 from just 54 balls and smashed six 6’s along the way. He missed out on a century and will be keen to continue in the same vein.
The form that Suryakumar Yadav has shown so far is impressive. It looks like he is close to a big score himself and is someone to watch out for. The selection of Saurabh Tiwari continues to be a bit strange, considering Ishan Kishan is on the bench, but he has been okay in the matches he played as well.
The big-hitting of the middle-order has not really been used so far. Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, and Krunal Pandya are all capable of getting big-runs in the middle or bowling as needed. Hardik has not been bowling in IPL 2020 but we think that could be just precautionary because of his injury.
Perhaps most importantly, Jasprit Bumrah was back to his best in the previous match. He, Trent Boult, and James Pattinson form a very dangerous bowling attack. Rahul Chahar, Kieron Pollard, and Krunal Pandya provide 6 international quality bowling choices even without turning to Hardik Pandya.
Everything is in Mumbai’s favor going into this match. It just needs to keep its focus and do the basics correctly.
Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, SA Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, JJ Bumrah, Trent Boult.
Teams have so far chosen to bat second but the vast majority of the matches have been won by the teams batting first. Dew is the factor that seems to influence the captains more than anything else. We think the team that wins the toss will continue to want to field first.

Dubai has served slower batting surfaces than at Abu Dhabi and so the spinners could be more of a threat as we continue to play here. The batsmen can still get plenty of runs after spending a bit of time in the centre, though. We have seen new batsmen struggle to smash big-hits immediately, possibly because of the large boundaries and the slow pitch.
A score of around 160-170 should be seen as par for the surface.

We are going to stick with the Mumbai Indians in this contest. They have a stronger batting lineup, a better bowling-attack, more players in form, and a more settled lineup. The biggest threat is going to come from the individual brilliance that RCB possesses but we think the Mumbai Indians have enough to come through.
Bet on Mumbai Indians to win.
We have seen the form that Rohit Sharma is in as one of the best six-hitters of the modern game. He is also backed by some of the most powerful batsmen in this entire edition of the IPL. This is one of our favorite bets considering the return we are getting for something that seems to be near-sure thing.
The manner in which Suryakumar Yadav has struck the ball this season of IPL 2020 has been very impressive. He just comes in and times the cover off the ball! He is also batting at number three and there is no reason to believe that will change in this match. Good against spin and pace, both, we think this is an excellent bat to make as well.
There has not been much competition among the bowlers when it comes to RCB. Chahal has been the best batsman by a fair distance and his match-up against Rohit Sharma is going to be pretty interesting as well. On a pitch that is expected to take some spin, Chahal could help you get some handsome returns indeed.
