Both teams have splurged to get some of the best talents from around the world to build up a strong team and we should have an exciting game of cricket on our hands. Let’s have a look at how both teams stack up against each other.

RCBW vs DCW Team Previews

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women

The Royal Challengers have a star-studded batting line-up and the team will be banking on them to bulldoze through the opposition bowling attack.

Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry are two of the most well-known faces in Women’s cricket, and the idea of both of them pairing up on the field already has the fans salivating. The batting department is further strengthened with the presence of New Zealand splitter Sophie Devine, as well as England Women’s captain Heather Knight, both of whom had a good time in the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup.

RCB also managed to clinch Richa Ghosh, who is lightning-fast behind the stumps and can also score some important runs toward the middle and death overs. However, the lower middle order looks a bit shaky for Bangalore as they have some relatively inexperienced players like Poonam Khemnar, Kanika Ahuja, and Komal Zanzad filling in for that slot.

The bowling department too appears to be a bit lacking with Megan Schutt and Renuka Singh Thakur being the only two experienced campaigners. RCB lack a quality spinner in their squad and that could be an Achilles heel for them on the pitches in Mumbai, which are known to aid the slower bowlers.

Delhi Capitals Women

The Delhi Capitals had a smart strategy at the auction and seem to have formed a well-balanced pool of players to choose from.

Jemimah Rodrigues is the most expensive buy for the team from the auctions and will be banking on her for scoring some big runs in the tournament. However, it is Meg Lanning who can emerge as the pivotal player for the Delhi Capitals this season.

She led Australia during their win in the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and will lead the Capitals this season. Alice Capsey is another batter to watch out for, as she is pretty solid in the middle order. Marizanne Kapp and Shafali Verma are the two world-class all-rounders on the team.

Both are capable of scoring some quick runs and the team will rely on them to boost them to a big total. The Capitals are the only team to have bought a player from the associate nations, giving them the flexibility of fielding 5 overseas players instead of 4.

Tara Norris has represented the USA in 4 T20Is and gives a left-arm seam option to Lanning. The Capitals also have some good spinners in the team, where Jess Jonassen will lead the attack and will be assisted by Radha Yadav and Poonam Yadav.

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.

Pitch and Conditions

The match will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The surface here is considered good for batting but does offer some turn to the slower bowlers. The seam bowlers however are likely to struggle here. The average first-inning score here is around 160. The ground does see some dew formation in the second innings making it difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball.

The weather is expected to be clear with temperatures of around 30 degrees Celcius.

RCBW vs DCW Betting Tips

Both teams have a pretty strong batting line-up and we can expect a high-scoring encounter. However, it is the bowling that will be the differentiator here and we feel that it is the Delhi Capitals who have a slight edge in that department. The odds available for the Delhi Capitals are also quite a bit better.

They have some quality spinners in the squad who can be quite effective on this pitch. RCB on the other hand is likely to struggle to contain the opposition batters.

Bet on the Delhi Capitals to win.

The pitch at the Brabourne Stadium is flat and offers a good and consistent bounce. The ball comes on nicely onto the bat, and with such strong batters in both squads, we are quite likely to see at least one boundary in the first over of the match.

Fresh off her victory at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as the captain of Australia, Meg Lanning will be feeling quite confident as she takes the field on Sunday. She is one of the most consistent top-order batters in the world and has scored a total of 17 centuries and 36 half-centuries in white-ball cricket. We are therefore backing her to be the top batter for Delhi Capitals.
