About the Match
After trampling the Lions, Sunrisers Hyderabad squashed Mumbai Indians in their latest game by 85 runs to accumulate 12 points and reach the 2nd position in the table; they will try to continue with their winning momentum when they meet Supergiants on 10th Mat at Visakhapatnam. Supergiants lost their previous match against RCB by 7 wickets after failing to defend a massive total of 191 runs; they will need to make amends here and make a comeback if they want to keep their hopes alive. It needs to be seen which one of them comes out all guns blazing on Tuesday to triumph here.
They have been on a winning spree ever since they lost the match against Supergiants and they look raring to go for the top position; a superb performance by the bowlers against Gujarat Lions helped them restrict the opposition to a lowly 126, which was chased down brilliantly by Warner and Dhawan playing the anchor’s role. While Dhawan posted an unbeaten 47, Warner belted out 24 runs from 17 deliveries. Henriques and Hooda kept the scoreboard ticking and reached the target with 1 over to spare.
In the recent match against Mumbai Indians, Dhawan and Warner yet again came out all guns blazing to post a 85-run opening stand; Dhawan’s stupendous 82 off 57 balls set the foundation while Yuvraj Singh, who made a comeback to the squad, scored 39 from 23 balls to help post 177. The bowlers were an inspired lot as Nehra registered a brilliant 3-15 in 3 overs and Mustafizur Rahman too took 3-16; Barinder Sran claimed 2 wickets while Henriques and B Kumar took a wicket each to demolish Mumbai batting line-up and win the match by a huge margin of 85 runs.
They have a boosted morale after a string of victories and their progress on the points table speaks for itself; with an in-form batting line-up consisting of players like Warner, Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Henriques, Williamson and Hooda, they can surely post a stiff challenge for the Supergiants. The bowling is in tremendous form and they are definitely a formidable force to reckon with at the moment.
Rising Pune Supergiants
A superb feat by Rahane, who scored 74 off 48, and Tiwary, who scored a well-made 52 led Supergiants to putting up a challenging total of 191 runs against RCB; however, poor fielding and an overall dismal show by the bowlers yet again resulted in defeat. Zampa took 2-35 while RP Singh managed to dismiss Watson, but they couldn’t fire from all cylinders thereby being unable to restrict the hosts from reaching the target.
In the game against Daredevils however, the batsmen combined their strengths to chase down 163 runs successfully; Rahane put up a good show, scoring 63 off 48 balls while Khawaja, Tiwary, Dhoni and Perera kept the scoreboard ticking. Earlier, Boland and Bhatia claimed 2 wickets each while Dinda took a wicket to help restrict the opponent to 162 runs.
They have had a mixed run so far but need to pull up their socks and push their campaign forward from here on; the Dhoni-led squad has a good batting line-up and bowlers, who are consistently taking wickets but they need to strategize well against Sunrisers and try to win again.
Supergiants have lost their last game but they do have the necessary resources to bounce back; however, given the performances the Warner-led Sunrisers have delivered in their recent games, we think that Sunrisers will leave no stone unturned to win the match on Tuesday
