About the Match
The Royal Challengers have only 2 points from 2 matches and occupy the 7th position on the table; they will go up against Mumbai Indians, who are at the last position with zero points so far, on 19th April at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Royal Challengers desperately need to win the upcoming match and grab two more points whereas Mumbai Indians too are trying their best to turn their fortunes. Both teams are eager to come back with more strength and win the upcoming match on Sunday.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The team lost its last match against SRH on home turf by 8 wickets after setting up 166, which proved to be a below par target. Only AB de Villiers smashed 46 off 28 while Virat Kohli scored 41 off 37 but in the end the score wasn’t enough to defend on a flat pitch. With the ball, only Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 wickets while others failed to restrict the opponents in reaching the target. RCB managed to get over the line in their opening match against KKR thanks to a brilliant 96 by Chris Gayle and tail-enders Harshal Patel and Abu Nechim holding their nerves in a close finish. Overall they have necessary talent and strength to fight back against Mumbai Indians in the upcoming match with hard hitters like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, who can be the game changers. Bowling is hitherto considered as RCB’s weakness and there were occasions when they came under immense pressure during the games against KKR and SHR; they need to pull up their socks and come up with a winning strategy to stay alive here.
They lost their 4th successive match against CSK by 6 wickets and it has been a heart-breaking run so far in the IPL. Against CSK, the batsmen ended up for 183 for the loss of seven wickets that looked like a competitive total; Kieron Pollard blasted 64 off just 30 while Rohit Sharma smashed 50 off 31 that helped MI reach 183 but the bowlers couldn’t defend it. Though Harbhajan Singh was expensive he picked up 2 wickets while all the other bowlers ran out of steam. Mumbai Indians have had a tough start this season and it’s getting worse for them. The top-order has been the focal point of Mumbai's campaign so far; with players like Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson helping the team set competitive totals. Rohit Sharma is a key and talented player while Lasith Malinga, Pollard, Harbhajan Singh and Vinay Kumar are looking strong to show off their bowling skills. They have enough resource in the team to overcome any situation and win the upcoming match provided they can execute the plan to perfection on the field.
It will be a tough encounter between Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians, both being under a lot of pressure especially Mumbai Indians who haven’t yet scored a win. Royal Challengers Bangalore is aware that this is a must- win situation here to move forward but we feel that Mumbai Indians will try hard to utilize their full strength and bounce back against RCB to win the upcoming match.
