Watson and Chahal caused three dismissals against the Kings XI to successfully defend a total of 175 by 1 run; Binny, Aaron and Abdulla contributed in stifling the opposition and convert the good efforts of the batsmen into their fourth win of the season. AB de Villiers’ power-packed performance saw him post 64 from just 35 deliveries while Rahul scored a well-made 42 off 25 to keep the scoreboard ticking. Wicket-keeping of KL Rahul has been a cause of concern for RCB and we might see a change in wicket-keeper though he will certainly retain his place owing to his fantastic batting form.
In the previous match against Supergiants, Kohli posted a brilliant 108 off just 58 balls to help chase down a tall target of 191 runs with 3 balls to spare; his unbeaten feat along with a good show by Rahul and Watson steered RCB to a comfortable win. Earlier, Watson showed great supremacy with the ball too as he claimed 3-24; although Chahal and Jordan took a wicket each, the others gave away too many runs. Bowlers like Parvez Rasool, Aaron and Jordan will need to put up a more disciplined attack against Mumbai Indians in the upcoming game.
Their batting line-up is in good form and they have proven to post challenging totals when batting first or chase down targets with ease; if the bowling squad can continue with their wicket-taking abilities, we can surely look forward to another win for the hosts.
With a tough target of 178 runs to chase against Sunrisers, the top order collapsed in a dismal way with in-form batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel, Rayudu and Buttler all getting out for single digits. Krunal Pandya and Pollard tried to build the innings but they too fell and MI was at 6-49. Harbhajan Singh came out with a fierce unbeaten 21 but with no support from the other end they lost the match horrifically by 85 runs in the 17th over itself. Singh had earlier contributed well with his spin bowling too taking 2 wickets but his lone efforts wasn’t enough to pull the team through.
In the match against Supergiants, the batsmen comfortably chased down 160 runs thanks to an unbeaten 85 off 60 by Rohit Sharma; Patel, Rayudu and Buttler kept the runs flowing and they won the match by 8 wickets. Bumrah was sensational with a figure of 3-29 while Harbhajan and McClenaghan took a wicket each to restrict the opponents.
Overall, they have a good batting line-up but need to be more consistent in building partnerships; they have their work cut out against RCB and must come out all guns blazing to win the match.
With their terrific last ball win recently, RCB has received a major morale boost and they will be eager to continue on their winning momentum; Mumbai Indians will definitely fight hard but we feel the hosts are better placed to emerge victorious on Wednesday
