The lower half of the league table in IPL 2020 is very interesting. There are five teams, all of whom are in contention for one potential playoff spot, and all of whom are very close to each other. Two of these teams, the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, are going to be taking on each other in this match.
While Rajasthan Royals delivered a confident victory over CSK in its previous match, SRH ended up losing to KKR in a Super Over contest. That was a match which SRH would have desperately believed it could win and so the loss is going to hurt a lot.
There is no time for either team to rest, though, and they must continue to keep winning.
RR vs SRH IPL 2020 is going to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on the 22nd of October 2020.
RR has changed tack and given its batting order, a bit of a rejig ever since Ben Stokes became available for selection. They have moved Robin Uthappa to the top and Jos Buttler to the middle order. The idea being that Jos Buttler and Steve Smith can guide the team to more victories from the middle.
This worked out pretty well in the match against CSK. RR lost three wickets cheaply but Buttler came in and smashed 70 to put the contest to bed.
We expect a similar approach from RR in this match against SRH as well. Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, and Sanju Samson will be given the license to play freely while Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Rahul Tewatia, and Riyan Parag will bring up the rear.
This is a strong batting lineup on paper, especially now that Jos Buttler has some runs behind him.
We have seen in the past how Buttler can go on run-scoring sprees and we believe he is capable of doing the same once again against SRH.
The bowling attack for RR was very effective in the previous match. Ben Stokes bowled three overs for not too many, Rahul Tewatia and Shreyas Gopal were brilliant in the middle, and Karthik Tyagi continued to make an impression.
We also don’t think this bowling attack was challenged by a CSK team that seems to have given up on IPL 2020. The RR bowling attack may not have it so easy against SRH.
BA Stokes, RV Uthappa, Sanju Samson, Steven Smith, Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, R Tewatia, Jofra Archer, S Gopal, AS Rajpoot, Kartik Tyagi.
This is a very crucial match for SRH, not the least because of the injury concerns it has to address. Kane Williamson hobbled around the crease in the previous match before he got out and is going to miss this match in all likelihood. That is going to be a huge dent to SRH as they just do not have another batsman of Williamson’s class as a replacement.
Mohammad Nabi is going to be the one that comes in for Williamson. He offers a decent all-round option that can bat powerfully and bowl effectively.
It will be interesting to see if Warner returns to the opening position or continues to bat in the middle from where he almost pulled off a brilliant win in the previous match. He and Bairstow are the best batsmen in the team by a huge margin.
Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, or Priyam Garg do not even come close to these two.
Every team that goes up against SRH knows that they are always just one or two wickets away from exposing a weak middle-order. Add to that the fact that Warner has not been at his best and we think there is a good chance that runs are going to be a problem for SRH in most matches to come from now.
SRH also has a poor bowling attack. Rashid Khan is world-class but he can be taken for runs, as KKR showed in the previous match, and there is no one else to back him up. Vijay Shankar bowled his four overs for just about 4 runs an over but that is not likely to happen too many times.
Natarajan, Rashid, Nabi, Shankar, and perhaps Sandeep are just not good enough against most lineups.
We don’t think the conditions in the UAE particularly suit SRH’s bowling style and that has shown up in the results.
David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, V Shankar, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, S Sharma, T Natarajan.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. That has been the trend in the matches so far and is going to continue. A score of around 170 seems to be par at the venue with anything more difficult to chase.

The conditions in Dubai have been slow from the start and we can see clearly now that the wickets have become even slower. The two most recent matches played here have been won by the team batting second. This could suggest a bit of dew coming in to play or the team batting first falling well short of a par total.
We think the team that bats first is going to have a clear advantage in this match. In addition, the role of the spinners is going to be crucial.

The Rajasthan Royals were in a winning position in their previous three matches but could only convert one out of them. In comparison to SRH, we believe RR has the stronger batting lineup. The bowling attack for both teams is thin but the presence of Jofra Archer gives RR a boost here as well.
Bet on the Rajasthan Royals to win.
Betway keeps offering us some amazing betting markets which we cannot resist. Kartik Tyagi has been phenomenal in IPL 2020. He has a habit of picking up big scalps and is used by RR in attacking situations. We definitely think this bet has a great chance of coming through.
This is a bit of a calculated gamble. We don’t think David Warner will return to the opening slot and will instead continue playing in the middle order. This will mean that a new player has to come up and open the batting for SRH. RR has Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa to open the batting, a pair that is due some runs soon.
We are getting some excellent odds for this bet. Now, in general, run-outs are almost always on the cards during the end of the innings as well as early on in the powerplay. We think this could be a match where two desperate teams end up making some errors and giving you a very nice payday.
We look for some high-value accumulators from 22bet but this was a bet that we could not pass up on. David Warner is an IPL legend and is in decent touch. We back him to score at least one four and one six in the inning.
