After a rather inconsistent start to the season, the Rangpur Riders have gradually managed to get to form, winning 6 of their last 7 matches. The only loss came in their latest outing, where they faced a big defeat at the hands of the Comilla Victorians.
With Shoaib Malik being unavailable for this match, the team will depend on Rony Talukdar to play a big inning here. Talukdar has scored 330 runs so far and has been quite impressive at the top and has put up some good opening stands with Mohammad Naim.
The middle-order however does seem to be a bit lacking. Nurul Hasan hasn’t been able to get going, while Kohler-Cadmore and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have played just 2 matches so far this season and appear a bit rusty. Shamim Hossain who is included in the team as an all-rounder to has lacked consistency.
The seamers, Azmatullah Omarzai and Hasan Mahmud have bowled well, picking up 15 wickets each, while Rakibul Hasan too has done a good job with his left-arm orthodox spin. The team will be banking on their bowling to deliver the goods in this crucial match.

Fortune Barishal made an excellent start to the season and was even at the top of the table for quite a while. However, they have seen a sharp dip in form during the past couple of weeks as they lost 4 of their last 6 matches, including the two most recent games.
The team will sorely miss the services of their in-form batsman Iftikhar Ahmed, who has departed to participate in the PSL. However, Dwaine Pretorius, who was brought in as a replacement, was quite impressive in his debut match this season, scoring 48 runs in just 29 deliveries.
Fortune Barishal will be depending on Anamul Haque and Mahmudullah to give them a good start, while Shakib Al-Hasan and Ibrahim Zadran will add strength to the middle order. In addition to Shakib, the team also has Karim Janat and Chaturanga de Silva as all-rounders, with the former being in excellent form and the leading wicket-taker for the team.
The bowling however appears to be a weak link for Barishal as the likes of Ebadot Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Khaled Ahmed have failed to rein in the opposition batsmen.

Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at Sher E Bangla Stadium is well-balanced as it provides good pace and bounce and the batsmen will find it easy to play their shots. The average first-inning score here is around 160. However, the spinners will be able to turn the ball once the pitch becomes rough, and it can get a bit tricky for the batsmen, especially in the second innings.
Since this is a day match, dew will not play much of a role and we think it will be better for a team to build a good score upfront and put the opposition batting under pressure. The weather is expected to be warm and sunny with no chance of rain.
