South Africa has lost its last two matches and it is clear that it still has a lot of work to do before it can start to challenge the top teams in the world consistently. A complete batting failure ended the South African challenge in the first few overs itself. It cannot afford to have another poor match otherwise the series is going to be decided in favor of Australia.
The Aussies will be supremely confident after their win in the first match. That win came on the back of a world-class bowling attack that can lay claim to being the best in the world. The Australian batting actually did not come close to being at its best and so we could see a better performance yet.
South Africa vs Australia 2nd T20 is going to be played at St, George’s Park, Port Elizabeth on the 23rd of February 2020.
The reliance of the South African batting on Quinton de Kock has been quite apparent and the team’s weaknesses were exposed in the previous match. Quinton de Kock got out early to an absolute peach of a delivery against Mitchell Starc.
Quinton de Kock knows that the Australians are going to come hard at him in this match once again.
Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis, JJ Smuts, David Miller, Pite van Biljon, and Andile Phehlukwayo form a long batting lineup on paper. There is no doubt about the class in this batting lineup.
Faf du Plessis and David Miller are world-class batsmen that have performed well in T20 cricket consistently. They will be the ones that need to take up more responsibility against Australia. The other newer players in the side may find facing the Australian attack a lot more difficult than they did against England.
Overall, the South African batting remains dangerous but it is not as strong as Australia’s.
This is why the bowling unit will have to play a big role for South Africa to have a chance at victory. Dale Steyn, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kagiso Rabada, and Lungi Ngidi should have been able to ask more questions of the Australian lineup.
They are playing in their own conditions and have enough variety to be able to adapt to anything that Australia can throw at them. The execution of the skills has to be much better from South Africa in this match as the balance of the side appears to be quite good.
Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, RVD Dussen, David Miller, PJ van Biljon, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi, Reeza Hendricks.
Australia asserted its dominance in the first T20 but still left a lot of room for improvement. None of its batsmen were able to get a fifty-plus score and most of them threw away their starts after getting set.
Finch scored 42 runs and Smith 45 but no one else even reached past thirty.
The form that David Warner has been in during recent times has been phenomenal. He is not going to fail too often and we expect some big scores from him. Australia also has Glenn Maxwell in the hut but it looks like he could have to wait for his turn.
Ashton Agar as number seven was able to play a huge role in the opening match as he scored 20 off just nine deliveries. He also picked up a hat-trick and ended up with a total of five wickets.
With Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson in the bowling attack, we have no hesitation in calling this the best bowling attack in the world.
Australia is going to come very hard at South Africa and not give it any chance to recover. The team prides itself on being ruthless and the return of Steve Smith in the middle has given the batting the consistency it needed as well.
David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, KW Richardson, Adam Zampa.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first.

The weather is expected to be good at St. George’s Park for match day and we should not have any interruptions. The pitch is going to be full of runs once again. The pace in the wicket is good and the ball comes nicely on to the bat. The bowlers are going to have to be at their best to be able to get away with any sort of respectability.
We think Australia is the better side in this contest and should be able to win again. South Africa should be able to be more competitive in this match but its structural faults are going to take some time to correct completely.
Bet on Australia to win.
