Cricket in South Africa is undergoing a massive change. Transformation policies, Kolpak losses, and the retirement of legends have left South African cricket weaker than in any recent time in history. This is why the win against England in the first test was celebrated as a potential turning point.
The second test comes with more such challenges as Aiden Markram is ruled out of the side with an injury. England is a world-class side and is not going to sit back in this test either.
Calls have rung out from former players to make changes in the playing eleven and maybe even drop some senior players from the side. It will be interesting to see whether England heeds the external pressure or shows faith with the current set of players. Jofra Archer is the one big injury concern for England heading into this match.
South Africa vs England 2nd Test 2020 is going to be played at Newlands, Cape Town starting on the 3rd of January 2020.
South Africa won the first test largely because of its first inning bowling performance because there was not too much to choose between the teams apart from that. Batting first, South Africa was in trouble 111-5 with the top-order back in the hut. Quinton de Kock then played an inning of counter-attacking brilliance that helped the South Africans reach 284.
Contributions from Dwaine Pretorius and Vernon Philander cannot be underestimated either.
Kagiso Rabada, Vernon Philander, and Anrich Nortje then provided a master-class in fast bowling utilizing different styles. They ran through the England batting and ensured that the home team had a big lead going into the second half of the match.
Newlands in Cape Town is a better batting venue and some more runs can be expected in the second half. It appears as if Pieter Malan is going to get an opportunity to play in place of Aiden Markram and we are backing him to make an impact.
Dean Elgar, Faf du Plessis, Zubayr Hamza, and Quinton de Kock make a decent batting lineup that can score a lot of runs against this England attack, particularly if Archer is missing from the lineup as well.
We don’t see any changes in the bowling lineup for the second test as far as the South Africans go. Vernon Philander, Anrich Nortje, and Kagiso Rabada will take up the fast-bowling duties while Keshav Maharaj will be the sole spinner.
Pieter Malan, Dean Elgar, Zubayr Hamza, Faf du Plessis, RVD Dussen, Quinton de Kock, Dwaine Pretorius, VD Philander, K Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje.
England’s success in the white-ball format seems to have come at the cost of its test match fortunes and there are cries of change ringing out. On paper, England has a very deep batting lineup with Jofra Archer batting at number 9.
That has not been reflected in England’s performances and some of its players need to take more responsibility. Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler take care of the crucial lower middle-order and have been short of runs for quite some time now. Similarly, the top-order of Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley, and Joe Denly does not really inspire too much confidence.
The wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes become the most important in the entire lineup.
Whenever these two fall early, it appears as if the England batting is going to collapse.
On current form, this England batting seems likely to fail on more occasions than not and that is not a good place to be 1-0 down in South Africa.
There have been calls for one of Stuart Broad or James Anderson to be dropped in favor of an additional batsman. That would have been a tough decision for the captain but Jofra Archer’s injury may have given him a way out.
England did not use Ben Stokes at all in the first inning and only bowled him for eight overs in the second. If Ben Stokes is not nursing an injury then bowling him for such few overs is a big tactical error. England can choose to play another batter if Stokes is fit to bowl otherwise they may just pick another bowler in place of Archer.
The heat is on England right now and the team has responded well in the past.
Dominic Sibley, Zak Crawley, Joe Denly, JE Root, BA Stokes, Ollie Pope, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Dominic Bess, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

Excellent weather has been forecast for the duration of the test match and we are likely to be able to get the entire match without any interruptions. The pitch at Newlands is going to be very interesting. We expect a mild covering of grass bit nothing too extravagant.
History has shown that average first inning scores for both teams tend to be about the same after which the average score goes down rapidly in the third and fourth.
A score of around 300-350 in the first inning should be seen as par.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for South Africa vs England 2nd test match. We are favoring the South African side heavily in this match and have included more of their players. The expected surface is one where a batsman like Dean Elgar can really get stuck in. We have resisted the temptation of including both Joe Root and Faf du Plessis because the return on investment just does not seem worth it at the moment.

Although there is not too much of a difference in the teams winning matches after batting or bowling first, this match may be a bit different. Winning the toss and batting first is a huge advantage and punters should take that into consideration.
We are favoring the home team because their bowling lineup looks better suited to the conditions and the team seems more motivated. England’s team is under severe pressure and that can sometimes be a weight holding you down, especially while traveling away from home.
