Rain played spoilsport in the second ODI as just 11.2 overs were possible before the match was called off. The series remains 1-0 in favor of South Africa as we head on to Johannesburg for the final ODI. The abandoned match obviously means that South Africa can no longer lose the series. It still does need to win the match to win the series, though, and we are sure Quinton de Kock would be aiming for nothing less.
England has another opportunity to try and get into the white ball frame of mind before the series shifts to the T20’s. This is a year in which the T20 World Cup is going to be played and so a bilateral ODI series does not have much context apart from bragging rights. Maybe that will allow the England side to experiment with its playing eleven.
South Africa vs England 3rd ODI is going to be played on the 9th of February 2020 at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
We don’t anything more than we did after the first match since the second match lasted just 11.2 overs. What we did see was that South Africa is going to be using its spinners a lot more aggressively and frequently under Quinton de Kock’s captaincy.
Perhaps this is keeping the 2023 World Cup in mind where de Kock expected the spinners to play a central role or maybe it’s the influence that playing at the IPL has. Either way, it is something that will help South Africa in the long run.
Quinton de Kock is going to lead the batting himself and will be helped by THE LIKES OF Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Rassie van der Dussen, and JJ Smuts. The batting lineup for South Africa is very long and has some very good players across the board.
Lungi Ngidi was dropped for the second match as Bjorn Fortuin got a chance to play but we think he may be back for the third match. South Africa’s bowling stocks have dipped in recent times and they need to persist with the bowlers for a longer time to build up their confidence.
The wrist-spin of Tabraiz Shamsi is going to be the biggest challenge to England once again in this match.
Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, RVD Dussen, JJT Smuts, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, B Hendricks, Lutho Sipamla, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi.
England did not get a chance to bat in the second test but would have been worried at the small amount of bowling they did get a chance to do. They were not able to stop the South Africans from scoring freely and seemed to be headed for another big chase.
The English bowlers have struggled to get early wickets and it was the spin of Joe Root that managed to prise out Quinton de Kock. Starting with spin could be another tactic that England tries in this match since that has proved to be quite successful against de Kock in the past.
Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, and Chris Woakes are all very good bowlers. They have not been getting the kind of help they are used to back home and that seems to be a bit of a problem. Tom Curran is the bowler we are backing to be the highest wicket-taker in this third match.
The England batting lineup is deep. Deeper than any other side in the world and almost all eleven players can bat if needed.
This has meant that England is able to play attacking cricket for the entire duration of the fifty overs and rack up some ridiculous scores. This was the basis on which the England side set up its World Cup winning campaign and something that we expect to see them return to in this match.
Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Eoin Morgan are the three batsmen we think could make a big impact in this match. Morgan is brilliant against spin and not afraid to aim for the boundaries from early on in his inning. He is going to be the key to combat the likes of Shamsi and Fortuin, if he does get another game.
JJ Roy, Jonny Bairstow, JE Root, Eoin Morgan, Joe Denly, Tom Banton, Moeen Ali, Tom Curran, AU Rashid, Chris Jordan, Saqib Mahmood.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. The Wanderers is a venue where defending totals can be quite difficult. The rain also tends to favor the team batting second if DLS calculations come into play.

The weather forecast for Johannesburg is not good. There is plenty of rain expected in South Africa and we could have another situation where just a few overs are possible. Hopefully, the rain will stay away for long enough to get a result because a 1-0 win to South Africa is going to feel quite hollow.
The pitch is one of the best for batting anywhere in the world. We just hope we get a chance to see some action on it.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for South Africa vs England 3rd ODI
We are backing England to make a strong come back after their defeat in the first match. The bowling is a bit of a concern but the English batting lineup is strong enough to post a massive total or chase down almost anything that the South Africans throw at them.
Bet on England to win.
