The Windies’ top scorer was Jermaine Blackwood (126 runs) and the most proficient bowler was Alzarri Joseph (12 wickets).
The biggest news before the ODI series begins is that allrounder Wiaan Mulder and spinner Keshav Maharaj from South Africa are both out of the matches due to injuries picked up in the Test games. They will be replaced by Wayne Parnell and Tabraiz Shamsi.

South Africa
South Africa has got to feel pretty good about their chances in this ODI series, but the injuries to Mulder and Maharaj are a major blow, as Maharaj especially was bowling well lately and had three wickets in the second Test.
Batting shouldn’t be a problem with Rassie van der Dussen and Quinton de Kock in the squad, as both are world-class batters capable of scoring big runs. Van der Dussen wasn’t in the Test series, but instead has been batting well in the Pakistan Super League. He’s been solid with 318 runs in his last 7 matches, with an average of 45.42.
While Rabada isn’t in the ODI series, a lot of the bowling burden will fall on the shoulders of Lungi Ngidi. He’s been one of the best fast bowlers in the team, with a great average of 26.52 and 71 wickets in his ODI career of 41 innings. He constantly bowls at 140/kph and he’s going to trouble the WI batters.

West Indies
Blackwood won’t be in the side, but the Windies will have to believe that Pooran can continue his great batting form, as he’s been doing well in the BPL lately. Pooran has been amazing in the most recent ODI matches, with 364 runs from his last 10 games and an average of 36.40. Pooran and Hope are likely to be the biggest threats to South Africa’s bowlers.
The good news for West Indies is that bowlers Joseph, Hosein, and Holder will all be ready for the squad. All three are talented enough to wreak havoc on SA’s batters, but it will be Joseph who makes the biggest impression. He’s already picked up 87 wickets in 53 ODI innings, with a solid ER of 5.21. He certainly has the ability to control the game with his fast bowling.

Pitch and Conditions
Batting is certainly favoured at this Buffalo Park pitch, as it’s traditionally very flat and the boundaries are slightly smaller than other grounds. Big totals of around 300 are common for ODI games, and it’s bound to be another huge scoring match. Thankfully, the weather is likely to stay at a very nice 30°C for the match.
