RSA vs ZIM Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 12, 2018

It's been a sorry story for the Zimbabwean's in the whole of the tour thus far. They've let go of positions of strength on multiple occasions which has been the major cause of their downfall. Their batting hasn't really clicked in any of the matches, but with Imran Tahir, the chief destructor, rested for the rest of the tournament, their batsmen will not get a better opportunity to impress. The two teams are set to meet at Potchefstroom on 12th October on a surface expected to be best to bat in the series so far. Zimbabwe have improved drastically since the beginning of this tour and it wouldn't be surprising if they manage to cause an upset here.

RSA vs ZIM Team Previews

South Africa

For the Proteas, Imran Tahir has played a key role with the ball as he's been responsible for as many as fifteen dismissals in four matches. His absence could be dearly felt in the upcoming match if the seamers do not manage to pick early wickets.

The Proteas' batting has been patchy with inconsistent performances from their top and middle order. Although almost all their batsmen have been amongst the runs, it's been a different batsman every game. Debutant Rassie van der Dussen bailed them out of trouble in their last match, but it might not be possible every time for the late-order to score quickly if the top-order fails so consistently. He has a phenomenal record here at Senwes Park which happened to be his home ground while he played for North West.

Despite Imran Tahir's absence, South Africa have a quality bowling attack. Their batting hasn't been doing as well as they'd have liked, but one performance every game has kept them unbeaten in the tournament so far. Their batting appears to be very strong on paper and if they can replicate it on the field, Zimbabwean bowlers could be in for a long day in the field.

South Africa Playing 11

Quinton de Kock, RVD Dussen, Faf du Plessis, Jean-Paul Duminy, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Andile Phehlukwayo, R Frylinck, Dane Paterson, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Zimbabwe

Although the scoreline says differently, the series has been a lot closer. Zimbabwe have managed to trouble South Africa in almost every single game and a bit of luck coupled with responsible play could see them emerge on top. South Africa, on the other hand, haven't been as clinical as they're known to be, but they've still been better than the visitors. With more experienced batting lineup and decent bowling attack, the Proteas are firm favorites to emerge on top once again.

Pitch and Conditions

It's likely to be a sunny day at Potchefstroom and the slight breeze flowing across the ground should keep the weather nice and pleasant. It's expected by to be one of the best batting surfaces we've seen in the series and bowlers could have a hard time here. With small boundaries and lightning quick outfield, defending will be tough here. The team batting first should be looking for a total in excess of 180.
