Cricket has started to return to Pakistan and it is indeed a historic occasion now that South Africa is touring Pakistan after more than a decade. The women’s cricket tour will go alongside the men and we are starting with three ODI’s between the women, however, that is being played in South Africa.
The first ODI between the Pakistan women and South Africa women will give us a good indicator of where the teams stand. FOr the first match, we are going to bank on the historic performances of these teams to come up with what is likely to happen.
Pakistan Women vs South Africa Women 1st ODI 2021 is going to be played at Kingsmead, Durban on the 20th of January 2021.
The most recent ODI that Pakistan women played was in 2019. That is a sad state of affairs for women’s cricket and the pandemic seems to have hit its scheduling the hardest. The lack of matches makes every opportunity to play international cricket an important one.
Pakistan’s team suffers from a lack of depth. It is dependent on a few outstanding players but there never seems to be enough backup for them. Javeria Khan will have to play the lead role in every single match as Bismah Maroof is not available for selection this time around.
The weak Pakistani batting is weaker still and that is going to be a huge concern.
Nahida Khan, Ayesha Zafar, and Aliya Riaz have an excellent chance of making a big name for themselves in this series. Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar will come in the middle-order and add a lot of depth.
Sidra Nazaz will be the wicketkeeping batter option.
Diana Baig, Kainat Imtiaz, and Nashra Sandhu will be the lead bowlers for the team while the all-rounders are going to chip in regularly as well.
Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt, Sune Luus, Lara Goodall, Mignon du Preez, Marizanne Kapp, Nadine de Klerk, Trisha Chetty, Shabnim Ismail, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nonkululeko Mlaba.
A full-strength South Africa women’s team is always a contender in every match that it plays. We feel the team has actually under-achieved over the last few years as it has struggled to make the most of its resources.
We feel the biggest advantage that South Africa has is the exposure its players get when they play T20 cricket all over the world.
The batting looks to be very strong led by Laura Wolvaardt, Lizelle Lee, Mignon du Preez, Marizanne Kapp, and Nadine de Klerk.
There is more power and experience in here than Pakistan’s team with ease.
The real challenge is going to be adapting to the ODI format and also making sure that they play the spinners well.
The bowling is also stronger than Pakistan’s. Shabnim Ismail, Ayabonga Khaka, and Marizanne Kapp are the lead bowlers for South Africa. They are absolutely world-class, especially on the hard South African surfaces.
The remaining two bowlers are a bit of a concern and South Africa would be hoping to blood in some younger players but we think they should have enough for the Pakistani batters.
Javeria Khan, Nahida Khan, Muneeba Ali, Umaima Sohail, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Sidra Nawaz, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu, Diana Baig, Sadia Iqbal.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Chasing is always a bit tricky in women’s cricket since the pressure of the rising required run-rate can be quite tough.

The conditions are going to be good for cricket and no rain is predicted. The sun is going to shine and make conditions excellent for batting. The bounce in the wicket at Kingsmead is going to make life difficult for the spinners since the ball may come on the bat nicely.
Fast bowlers like Shabnim Ismail, though, are going to enjoy the assistance that they get.
We think South African women have a great chance of winning this match. Keep in mind, the previous series between South Africa and Pakistan in South Africa ended 1-1 so Pakistan cannot be counted out of this contest.
Yet, the home conditions, a superior batting lineup, and a far superior bowling attack give the edge to South Africa.
Bet on South Africa women to win.
