The Ruby Trichy Warriors and the Siechem Madurai Panthers are right next to on the league table. Both the teams have played four matches and are in the mix to bag a playoff berth but cannot afford any mistakes from here on in. The Panthers with three wins to their name are in a better position than the Warriors who have just won two games in the tournament so far.
The Ruby Trichy Warriors have done pretty decently in the tournament when it comes to the batting stats. They have a couple of very talented players in their mix who are dangerous with the bat and pushing for national recognition.
The best batsman for the team so far has been SS Kumar with 176 runs to his name. He has hit the most runs, the most sixes (11), and is getting all his runs at a very healthy strike rate of 127.53.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, their other batsmen like Baba Inderjith, Bharath Shankar, and C Ganapathy have not quite been able to contribute in the manner that the team would have liked. This year is proving to be one of the closest TNPL group stages in the history of the campaign and the Ruby Trichy Warriors would be hoping that its players are able to lift their game in the crucial stages.
The bowling has been of a mediocre quality but that is not something limited to this team only. We have not seen any fast bowler that stands out or any spinner that looks to be good enough for the international stage.
In this team, almost all the bowlers tried have picked up some wickets with C Ganapathy being the leading wicket-taker right now. The bowling will be a weak point and the Ruby Trichy Warriors would want to score a few extra runs to give its bowlers the cushion they need.
Bharath Shankar, Baba Indrajith, Suresh Kumar, SV Saravanan, AS Govinda Raajan, Chandrasekar Ganapathy, K Mani Bharathi, R Sonu Yadav, Lakshminarayanan Vignesh, MS Sanjay, Kannan Vignesh.
The Siechem Madurai Panthers are having their best season of the TNPL so far and have won three out of their four matches so far. Like the Warriors, the Panthers also have a couple of very highly rated batsmen in this league.
A Karthik has top scored for the team with 141 runs, J Kousik has 110 runs to his name, and PS Chandran also has more than 100 runs to his name. With regular contributions from Rohit, Sargunam, and the lower order, the Panthers batting unit is quite impressive for this level of cricket.
The team has to ensure that the batting unit stays in form for the closing matches of the group stage because they have still not locked up a place in the knockouts.
The bowling side is average and holds no threat to the opposition per say but can be pretty useful with some runs to defend. Varun Chakravarthi, J Kousik, A Tanwar, and Shah have all done reasonably well considering the talent they possess.
Arun Karthik, D Rohit, XT Sargunam, Shijit Chandran, Jagatheesan Kousik, R Karthikeyan, R Nilesh Subramanian, AB Tanwar, L Kiran Akash, Varun Chakravathi, Rahil Shah.
The team winning the toss is likely to bat first
There is a slight chance of rain according to the weather forecast for the match. The pitch in Tirunelveli has started to help the spinners a little and that will only continue as the tournament progresses.
We think a score of around 160 should be considered par.
Back the Siechem Madurai Panthers to win.
