Tasmania managed to get an important win for itself against Victoria in the previous match as its bowling did the trick. Now, it faces up against South Australia who is still looking for its first win of the Marsh ODI Cup 2021.
Despite having some terrific batsmen in its lineup, South Australia has not been able to get over the line. Will it be able to overcome a confident Tasmania in this match? As can be expected, this match holds more importance for South Australia than it does for Tasmania. Coming back from three consecutive losses can be very difficult in this tournament.
South Australia vs Tasmania Marsh ODI Cup 2021 is going to be played at the Junction Oval, Melbourne on the 12th of March 2021.
It is a real shame for South Australia that Alex Carey and Travis Head have both played an exceptional inning in the Marsh ODI Cup 2021 already but the team has suffered a loss on both occasions.
The trick is to get the team performing at the same time so that good individual performances do not go waste. This means Jake Weatherald, Callum Ferguson, and Tom Cooper need to step up their game and start contributing.
Wes Agar, Peter Hatzoglou, and Spencer Johnson lead the bowling attack with support from Cameron Valente and Corey Kelley. Even Travis Head can bowl if needed to give another option to the side.
We think South Australia is underperforming its potential right now and there is an opportunity here for bettors to get some real value for their money.
Alex Carey, Harry Nielsen, Callum Ferguson, Jake Weatherald, Jake Lehmann, TM Head, Daniel Worrall, Wes Agar, Cameron Valente, Peter Hatzoglou, Corey Kelly.
Tasmania has a couple of advantages coming into this match. Not only has it won its previous outing but it also played that match at the same venue where it is scheduled to play the next one.
Tasmania’s bowling is quite decent and being familiar with the conditions is only going to make it more effective. With Jackson Bird, Peter Siddle, Sam Rainbird, and Nathan Ellis Tasmania has four very good fast bowlers to attack at all times in the game.
Tom Andrews picked up three wickets in the previous match and we know Beau Webster is very effective as well. In terms of bowling strength, Tasmania certainly has the advantage over South Australia.
The biggest threat in the batting department will come from the scarily consistent, Jordan Silk. This man is knocking down the doors to the Australia national team and it is just a matter of time before he gets a call-up. He is, according to us, the best middle-order batsman in the country right now.
Tim Paine, Caleb Jewell, Jake Doran, Macallister Wright, and Beau Webster form the rest of the batting lineup. We worry about the Tasmanian batting. Apart from Silk, there is no one else that can be relied upon to score runs consistently.
Sure, they will have their good days but take Jordan SIlk out of that lineup and you are looking a very brittle group of batsmen.
Tim Paine, Jordan Silk, Jake Doran, Caleb Jewell, Mac Wright, Beau Webster, Jackson Bird, Nathan Ellis, Riley Meredith, Jarrod Freeman, TD Andrews.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Trying to get as many runs as possible on the board and then defending with the bowlers has to be the game plan.

The conditions are going to be in favor of the bowlers. The Junction Oval is slow, offers pin, and is generally difficult for the batsmen to score freely. We saw scores of around 230 being scored here the last time around and that is probably just 20 runs short of being par for the venue.
Teams batting first will want to get 250 to be reasonably confident of defending it.
We think there is an opportunity to back South Australia here. Tasmania has a stronger bowling lineup but its batting is not very strong. South Australia, on the other hand, has a strong batting lineup that is pretty good against spin and on slow tracks.
Bet on South Australia to win.
