The ICC World Cricket World Cup League 2 started with a bang on Wednesday as Oman just sneaked past Papua New Guinea in the first match of the series. Brimming with confidence, Oman will take on the hosts in the second match of the series which is to be played at the same venue of Mannofield Park in Aberdeen on Thursday, August 15th. Scotland were already favorites to win the competition, and with Oman coming off a brilliant win in the first match, the rivalry between the two sides could be a feast to watch for the fans.
Playing at home, Scotland started this series as firm favorites, but considering how well Oman fought in the first match, they might have some work to do in their opening match. They have done reasonably well in International cricket in recent times and will be looking to carry on with the momentum they have.
On paper, Scotland have got a beautiful blend of youth and experience with a few players coming back from spectacular performances in the Global T20 Canada. Kyle Coetzer has been in superb form, and with the likes of Calum Macleod, Richie Berrington, and George Munsey to follow, their batting is second to none. They have a terrific bowling attack to back up their batting, especially in the home conditions.
Kyle Coetzer, Matthew Cross, Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, George Munsey, Craig Wallace, Tom Sole, Safyaan Sharif, MRJ Watt, Alasdair Evans, Adrian Neill.
Even though Oman were not the favorites to win the first match, they did spectacularly well to upset Papua New Guinea on the first day of the tournament. With a win, they occupy the top of the table position and will be looking to win the second match as well to strengthen their chances of qualification for the next round.
In the first match, they looked down and behind the eight-ball chasing a total of 230 after they were reduced to 144 for 6 in the 38th over. However, Fayyaz Butt and Sandeep Goud added crucial 90 runs in as just 69 deliveries to take them to the total as Oman registered their first-ever victory in One Day Internationals.

It was a see-saw encounter between Oman and Papua New Guinea in the first match of the series, and we do not expect such a close encounter in the second match. Scotland are apparently too heavy on paper as compared to Oman and are also coming off a reasonable run in their past few games. Additionally, the likes of George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer, and Matt Cross have done exceptionally well in the series they were respectively playing in. With everything going in their favor, we expect them to win this upcoming match with considerable ease.
