Hosting cricket after a long time, Scotland couldn't really fulfill the purpose of the same as one of the two matches were washed out due to rain and the other one resulted in a partially completed contest. Scotland played decently in that second match of the series and will be looking to produce something better against Sri Lanka in the upcoming home series. The first match of the series will begin with the first match scheduled to be played on Saturday, 17th May at The Grange, Edinburgh.
The injury to their regular all-rounder must have hurt their plans to a huge extent. Ritchie Berrington has been a key player for them in all of their recent matches and his absence is likely to leave a huge void for the Scottish side.
On paper and despite the absence of Berrington, the home team has a superb batting lineup consisting of Calum McLeod, Kyle Coetzer, and Matthew Cross. McLeod smashed a brilliant century against Afghanistan and the fans will be hoping to see another big knock from him.
While their batting did superbly in the recently concluded match against Afghanistan - which they lost by a mere margin of three runs, their bowling couldn't really pick up wickets at regular intervals. All in all, their bowling lacked variety and potency in that match and if they can improve on that front, Sri Lankans will have their work cut out.

Sri Lanka are going through a transition at the momentum and this series is just the time they needed to spend in the conditions which will be a lot similar to the ones they are going to encounter during the World Cup.
The deteriorating performance of Sri Lanka hasn't been hidden by anyone in the past two years white one of the poorest win/loss ratio in the limited overs version of the game. Getting two wins in two matches here is certainly expected to do worlds of good to their confidence.
Dimuth Karunaratne was recently appointed as their captain and considering his lack of experience, it could be a good leadership experience for him before the major tournament. He has a good young and talented team at his disposal that will be keen to perform at the international stay away from the home and they cannot be taken lightly.

It is rainy season in Scotland and as clouds are likely to play hide and seek with the sun, batting is not going to be easy. Scotland's batsmen have played most of their cricket in such conditions and the advantage of playing at home could really be a game changer for them. Having said that, the Lankans have a better side, at least on paper and we think that they will emerge on top in the first ODI of the series.
